Blue Mix Lyrics

In simple English, this is truth/
so see if this makes sense to you/
under the guise of Jesus Christ/
beneath the vibe and all the lights/
they lie, these spies/
covered, your eyes/
I never knew this was a contest/
I guess we lost it long ago/

chorus
Blue mixes/
kick us while we’re down, yeah/
Fixing prices/
Sure you say /
one thing but your actions tell the truth on you/

So, blue mix means to weaken sound/
turns concert halls to battlegrounds/
Make us pay to go on tour/
marked up t-shirts to match yours/
Blind fans, gold mine/
you are, dollar signs/
And when did this become a contest?/
I guess we lost it long ago/

bridge
You are responsible/
to watch what you buy/
these bands that you love/
pull the wool over your eyes/
So watch them/
Watch us/
watch them.

This song is about the Supertones and how corporate and lame they are btw...

this is not about any specific band, this is about Christian bands who care more about the money than the message they preach, a "blue mix" is when the sound man tones down an opening band so that the main band will sound better. Christian bands shouldn't have to compete for money, they're all in the same boat, all have the same belifs and should stick together.

xfromyourhandx is right this song is about the supertones

It's not about the Supertones. It may or may not be about the Supertones managers on the Skamania tour. Other than that, J35U5 is pretty much right.

it implies a Contest and a waste of time (he doesn't care that it's a contest, they 'lost' anyway)

J35U5_owns hit this on the head. Theres no dought the song is all about the christian bands that fight each other for the money instead of thier meanings. The is a reason that theres a musical catagory called CHRISTIAN rock. If you sing in it, then your putting a message out there.

I never knew this was a contest/ I guess we lost it long ago/

They're saying when they got into this style of music they went in it for the message they had, not the money and thats why "we lost it long ago"

So, blue mix means to weaken sound/ turns concert halls to battlegrounds/

its the fight of the bands for the glory

Make us pay to go on tour/ marked up t-shirts to match yours/ Blind fans, gold mine/ you are, dollar signs/

I don't believe that this portion is about the bands, but the publishing companies that are feeding from the bands who are out there for what they believe.

This is now one of the best songs I ever herd now that I know the meaning.

I registered on this site just so I can correct what has been said about this song...

I remember reading an interview with Reese Roper back when this record was released, and he said it was about "some bands we have toured with." He didn't say who. So it's not just some general message, it is about particular bands.

Now, the only band that really makes sense for this is the Supertones, although I have also heard Reese say that they're good guys with a good purpose. So Bob the Goat's statement that it's may be about the Supertone's management sounds exactly right.

Once again: I know for sure it is not some general statement about Christian music; IT'S ABOUT A COUPLE OF REAL BANDS.

When Resse said it was about some bands they had toured with he probably meant that he had seen people like the ones described in the song on tour, and that is what inspired the song. It's not about any bands in paticular.
