Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
There seems to be a lot of confusion here with you people. Allow me to clear it up.
There is a difference between Christian rock... And a rock band whose members are Christian.
In Chevelle's case it is clearly the latter.
As to the meaning of the song, I personally find it rather vague and convoluted. The message isn't clear enough to the listener(the listener who doesn't go and watch interviews or read about it online or whatever). Just reading these lyrics and listening to the song it personally made me think of a girl.
I dont think is a religious song. To me it sounds like it is sung to a girl that wont trust him and for just this once he wants her to take hold and just trust him for a change.

I'm concerned about all you guys trying to relate EVERYTHING, every song, every word, every sound, .. to God.
kind of extreme, when you think about it..
It's not because chevelle is a christian band, that they can't have a song about something else then religion or christianity.
HeliumFear, I totally agree on art being open to interpretation.
But when I want to know the meaning of a song, I want to know what the writer means by this song. And so many people are giving their own meaning to it.
In my opinion, there's a big difference between the meaning of a song, and how YOU interpret it.

@Zetsumei Look I have heard this song many times and i'm gonna say How I long to GRAB THY HAND and Look. Now it could be taken both ways. Christian or love. Me i took it both ways. I agree with the members are christian, but were tha band not christian, they would say Damn Hell Fuck, whatever. Ice nine Kills Does. The singer Spencer Charnas Is a devout Christian and Curses in the band cause he does this only for the money and for fun.

i wonder how you guys would interpret chevelle's music if you never found out these guys were christians. it's like just knowing they're christians automatically makes all their songs somehow related to God, which really pisses me off. i remember when i first heard vitamin r on the radio, the dude called them a christian band and said that the r stood for religion.
and if you listen to their live cd or dvd, i can't remembr which one, before he starts the song pete says "here's one for the ladies in the house"
"How I long for release?" That line is talking about lust, sex, etc. He wants release from the nearly painfull desire he has for a woman... and when he says release, he means sex. Get it? The God reference is added for emphasis... to show that he speaks the truth... like "God, he's hott" The whole song is about a man who just longs to touch a girl he wants, and wants so badly he screams in fustration. He uses "thy" to show just how much he wants her. She is so special that he can't use mundane language.
FINALLY, someone who fucking GETS it and isn't just using "God" as a cop out for an explanation of every Damn Chevelle song in existence.
Even in Live at the Norva show, right before they play this, Pete announces "This one goes out to all the ladies"

I do believe in God. I just know that this song has nothing to do with God. And fore the record, Chevelle is not, IS NOT a Christian band.

Wow. Get the lyrics right! Kudos to tejasvi.
Thi song has NOTHING to do with religion. You know how we sometimes say god when we really want something, or something is so good.
Example: God this icecream is so good.
This song is about lust. lust lust lust .
But all Chevelle songs are open to interpretation, as Pete always says.
And by the way.
CHEVELLE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND, THE MEMBERS ARE CHRISTIAN.
So don't think every song has a religious meaning. Hot Christ, give it a rest.
This shit has been going on for yeaaarrss,
