There is a difference between Christian rock... And a rock band whose members are Christian.
In Chevelle's case it is clearly the latter.
As to the meaning of the song, I personally find it rather vague and convoluted. The message isn't clear enough to the listener(the listener who doesn't go and watch interviews or read about it online or whatever). Just reading these lyrics and listening to the song it personally made me think of a girl.

I agree with the members are christian, but were tha band not christian, they would say Damn Hell Fuck, whatever. Ice nine Kills Does. The singer Spencer Charnas Is a devout Christian and Curses in the band cause he does this only for the money and for fun.
