this song has totally affected my life since the first time i heard it, it definitly is THE best song aaron lewis has written, ironicaly, he claims he still doesnt know what this song is about.. well to break my explanation down verse by verse: verse one is about when that "one" person talks to you, and how you arent concentrating on what they're saying or what the look on their face is like, all you can focus on is THEM. the chorus is about how you feel miserable, and there are so many things you wish you could have said to them, but you just ignore them. the second verse is about how you want to admit to them how you feel, but you just cant, and you want to claim your place (And dig myself a little hole/inside your precious heart). the last verse is about how they want more attention, and they think they can do better if the better thing will come to them first

I agree compeltely with Fierce137. It's about depression. People all around you but their voices are far away, everything is unclear, numb sorta. You want to explain what's going on but no one really understands, you just talk in riddles. The epiphany is realizing what and who you are: a little kid who cries out for attention yet always tries to hide. You feel so helpless and misserable and just want to come apart or dig a hole and hang onto that one person you love. It's always raining, you're always miserable and you still wish you could do better, say the things you should, be there for people. You don't know how you can yell at people when you don't even know who you yourself are or explain how you feel. But you do know you'll do the right thing always, as long as you feel sure of what it is.

I think this song is taling about a lost chance at love. Bieng with someone and then losing them..only to find out much later how much you really loved that person. And then follows a time of fear, and desperation. Talking in riddles, as in not knowing or being able to say what you really feel. Through time the persons face even becomes hazy..you stop remembering that person and you end up following and falling in love with a dream. Desperatly seeking love.

So I've always loved this song, but it just dawned on me as I was listening to it that it PERFECTLY describes a situation I'm in now - where I'm really into this guy, and he's really into me, but he has ADD and can't easily express what he wants and smokes pot to deal with it - and then I go on to read here that Aaron Lewis has said that it is about ADD. Guess I was spot on.

One day it was raining outside, and it kept raining for years. I dont remember when the rain started, I dont even remember what the weather was like they day it started raining. One day the rain stopped, and the sun shone through. Now its windy outside and the clouds are coming back. Now I see a cyclone in the distance, and wonder when it will get to me.
