| Peter Gabriel – I Grieve Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I was just rereading "A Grief Observed" by C.S. Lewis and came across a very familiar line... The books is an edited version of Lewis' journal in which he copes with the death of his wife, Joy Gresham. Lewis, in case you didn't know, was (and is) a popular Christian apologetic. But in this book he questions his faith. He says at one point that his faith, prior to his wife's death, must have been like a house of cards which hadn't taken a real blow. He worries that even as he writes, he may be constructing a new "card-house," rationalizing and distancing himself, etc. And he writes, "But there are two questions here. In which sense may it be a house of cards? Because the things I am believing are only a dream, or because I only dream that I believe them?" Clearly Peter Gabriel took some inspiration from Lewis. That line was always my favorite in the song and now I love it even more. |

| Modest Mouse – A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| well actually, xthestarslaughdx, it shouldn't remind you of a boy you like that laughs a lot, because the "laughing boy" name is supposed to be ironic. it's a purpose CALLED "laughing boy" but who is actually a manic depressive. everyone expects this person to be happy and perfect, but secretly they are miserable. the brushing hair and putting on make up is symbolic of covering up the person's real feelings. | |
| Bright Eyes – Don't Know When but a Day Is Gonna Come Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Cherub Rock, I agree about that line; it kind of bothered me for a while. I'm all for questioning doctrines of your faith and stuff - but saying that everyone has a different truth and that's the only truth there is... I disagree. I think there is absolute truth. I'd have less problems with it if perhaps instead of saying "what you make the truth" it was "what you find to be true." Not that that would fit the meter. But, you know. Because make the truth sounds like anyone can just convince themselves that they are right and justify whatever actions they like. Hitler believed Jews were inferior - does that make it true? One could argue, yes, to him. But there IS absolute truth that EVERYONE measures by - which is why we find Hitler to be WRONG. There's right and wrong. It's not all relative. However, I think Conor was more going with the Emerson idea of ... not just going with what you're told but just trusting to your own heart and mind. Make your own religion for yourself, or rather, find it (in yourself). That I can accept. |

| Bright Eyes – The Center of the World Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song really seems pretty straight-forward to me and I'm surprised there is so much debate about it. No, it is nothing about a boy and a girl or a relationship or anything like that. It's about the pointlessness of existence. He is describing, metaphorically, death. And how every person is just like a grain of sand in this massive beach that just gets washed away in the tide. "The horror of the truth... we are far less than we knew." And so he goes on to describe a funeral and how pointless it is because nothing can overcome death. He is very preoccupied with death on this entire album in fact - although his extremely pessimistic view is changed to a much more hopeful one on the next album, particularly in the song "From a Balance Beam" which is a complete 180 from this song. Those two songs together just create this like wonderful spiritual journey... But anyway, the last part of the song is describing hte monotony of everyday life and how that too, is completely pointless and you can't escape it and almost would rather die and just disappear into that nothingness he described. |
|
| Bright Eyes – From a Balance Beam Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is definitely a spiritual song. The whole first verse is about being cynical and losing your faith - that's what the slipping and the fall from a balance beam is. Someone mentioned the "staring at my wrist" line as possibly meaning suicide and that was my first thought when I heard it but no - I think he's talking about a wristwatch. He's waiting for the world to end. The first time he says he's waiting, he thinks the universe is just pointless. But the second time, he has hope that there is something more. He's almost waiting for death because he knows that we will be freed from ourselves and become more than we are. The guard will open the key and let him out of this body, this life and he will be free but still freezing from all the pain of this life. He can't wait for it to end so we will know all the answers and the way out and the meaning and happiness. This is such a beautiful and hopeful song. One of my favorite Bright Eyes songs. |

| Good Charlotte – The Anthem Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| This song is just what it says, just another loser anthem. It's stupid. Anyone who actually listens and follows the lyrics will get nowhere. You can't beat the system by pretending it doesn't exist. Getting an education and a job doesn't make you a horrible person, it allows you more opportunities to become whatever person you want. This song is like "let's go and be different" not realizing that that attitude is stupid because that's what everyone does and is therefore not very different at all. "Do you really want to be just another trend?" I'm afraid that's exactly what Good Charlotte is. Not everyone can be rockstars and most rockstars don't last long. Good Charlotte is in that group that will be gone in ten years' time. I predict they will still be stupid kids living according to their loser anthem at age 40. | |
| Good Charlotte – Emotionless Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
This is the only Good Charlotte song I tolerate. Generally they make me want to go track them down and start yelling at them about what a bunch of immature, silly hipocrits they are, but this song comes from the heart and you can tell. And I like it because my Dad did the exact same thing two years ago and I can completely relate. Just change "sons and little girl" to "daughters and little boy" and that's my family. |
|
| Good Charlotte – Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| They suck and are hipocrits but also ... who cares if celebrities complain? They are people, having money doens't make them automatically happier than anyone else. Everyone is entitled to whine and bitch and feel sad, ok? So shut the fuck up good charlotte ya fuckin pussies | |
| Good Charlotte – Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
Someone else must have said this before but... Good Charlotte IS rich and famous!!! And all they do IS whine!! Stupid immature gayass hipocrits... |
|
| Good Charlotte – Another Loser Anthem Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| This song is just what it's called, a loser anthem. It's stupid. Anyone who actually listens and follows the lyrics will get nowhere. You can't beat the system by pretending it doesn't exist. | Deftones – Knife Party Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
This song reminds me of my group of friends at my old school. Some kids were pretty messed up and depressed and stuff and then they kinda pulled everyone else down with them and depression became the cool thing and so it was like this big mass of depressed people hanging out together. We'd have parties where we just sat there and stuff, and people didn't usually cut in front of eachother, but everyone knew everyone else did. So it was this weird feeling of like everyone's in it together, and yet everyone is really stuck in their own hell despite being in the same room or something. And btw anemia does not have to mean the medical definition, it can also just mean limp, lifeless, numb, tired, emotionless... This song gives me goosebumps when the woman starts singing/screaming in the background with "i could float here forever" and "can't feel a thing" repeating. It's like you are capable of anything when you are really that apathetic and numb and aren't aware of how you're hurting other people or yourself. |

| Finch – Say It Ain't So (Weezer cover) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I was excited when I heard they did a cover of this Weezer song, as I thought that their sound would fit it well. But I'm sorry to say I was dissapointed when I downloaded it. I love Finch, but they must leave this song alone. They slaughtered it. | |
| Finch – Perfection Through Silence Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I take this song as having a similar meaning to Schism by Tool. You and a person used to be close, but now everything is strained and awkward, and the silence is suffocating you, and you just wish you could break the silence. You sit there and look at these photographs of you and that person when you were together and happy, and think how perfect it looks, but that it's gone. And you want to fix it, but you don't know whether you should just beg for them to talk to you, or if that would just drive them further away you should wait for them to come around, but that is so frustrating. It doesn't have to be about a boy/girl relationship, could be between family members too or anyone. It's about when you grow apart and you can't stand it and don't know what to do. | |
| Built to Spill – Randy Described Eternity Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I think this is about how people always make resolutions and goals and stuff and want to become better and reach for something more and stuff, but it takes a very long time and a lot of motivation, and you never end up following through. | |
| Built to Spill – Else Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I agree with Lemonhead and EmoKiddie. Resigned to dissapointment is a good way to put it. | |
| Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song can refer to any type of addiction, doesn't matter if it's sexual, drug use, alcohol, or self-mutilation or anything else, like maybe doing weird stunts and stuff and needing to always take it a notch higher. When you're addicted to something, when you need it to sustain you and keep you going, you use it so constantly that eventually you get so used to it it starts to get numb... So you need something new, something more to wake you up again and keep you going. It doesn't matter if it hurts you or someone else, you just have to do it... And it keeps beginning to not be enough. You say ok this is as far as I'm going, this is where I draw the line, but then you can't... you have to increase the dosage, take a couple more bottles, go in a little further, cut a little deeper, take it to the next level.. But eventually that stops working too. And it just keeps getting worse. There's no stopping it. | |
| Goldfinger – Open Your Eyes Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Man.... I never realized it was about vegetarians.... Wtf?? I listened to the song numerous times, and read the lyrics and not until you people all started talking about not eating meat and stuff did I see the connection. But even still, I don't think that's what the song was about. I thought it was more just about materialism and being blind and ignorant and all the problems with the world that was have to acknowledge and stuff. And we can't just do what people tell us and be like mindless drones... I didn't analyze the song into specifics but the main message and feeling behind it seemed similar to Open Your Eyes by Staind, or even Prison System by System of a Down, or fuck, even Fat Lip by Sum41 though that's a stretch. I took it just to be about not conforming and not buying into the lies of the world and stuff... Seemed to have kinda a conspiracy-theorist feel to it to (like Prison System except that's more political and is about specific issues with drugs). | |
| Built to Spill – Hazy Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| .... what? Theyr'e called Built to Spill, it's just the song is called Hazy. And they're Indie. Underground adult alternative, slightly Emo. They're awesome. | |
| Built to Spill – Still Flat Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think this song is about when a relationship goes flat. Or perhaps life in general. Nothing is new or exciting, just flat. | |
| Built to Spill – Reasons Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| It seems sort of like a love song, like how someone can make you feel alive and excited and every moment is new and surprisings. IT makes everything so much easier and you feel you need this person to stay with you until you die, to help you get through life and that's all you want. That person gives you a reason for life. | |
| Built to Spill – Get A Life Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think this is kind of about people trying to be all deep and stuff when they really don't know what they're talking about. They're just foolin themselves. "Unthink the things in your head. It's just what you read. Christ went right over their heads" you're just spitting out what you just took in, your'e not really thinking it. You're making a big deal out of nothing. 'Who am I?' is just a stupid question, because there is no real answer. No one is anything, you just are. | |
| Built to Spill – Joyride Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I do! I do! This is one of their most straight-forward songs. He's wryly joking about how this is just the typical song about love and how wonderful it seems and then it always ends up in pain. He's saying how it doesn't matter what the details to his story are, because it happens to everyone just slightly differently. It's the same thing again and again in songs. All of them can just be summarized nicely by "love is just a joyride. drink a lot of beer and climb inside. lay your foot down on the gas. leave it there until you crash." brilliant. |
|
| Built to Spill – Bad Light Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think this song is sort of about misinterpretation. And how you need to be informed, and "reading in good light" and understanding things. Everything you think and do and the whole world and how it words, things like the sun shining... how can it be explained? Just common sense won't cut it, you have to learn. "Takes a firm background in remembering, and it takes some math, and there's so much more", you have to know what you're talking about before you just start talking. And it's hard to think about things when you don't know enough, but it's hard to learn. So hard to see in bad light... | |
| Built to Spill – Center of the Universe Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| The meaning is pretty straight-forward. Who doesn't think they're at the center of the universe? We are all the center of our own little worlds. We have these ideas about what we think are "right" but nothing ever quite lives up to our own expectations. On the TV, no one ever seems to be quite what you want. But even you, even yourself, you're not what you want either. The words that come out sound so out of sync, they don't make sense, you're not getting through.... You don't like the way things are but it doesn't mean you're gonna just stop. You're not gonna kill yourself, you're not gonna change it. You'll just keep going, because you're it. You're the center of your universe. | |
| Built to Spill – The Source Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
"Morning comes and I'm up on time again Upon getting up and I'm down on what I got up for Boring, dumb, and fine It's been a long time my friend" It starts by talking about the blandness of everyday: you get up at a certain time, you have to do something, it's boring and pointless and stupid but it's ok, it's fine. Time just keeps moving on. "You haven't changed, neither have I So why you wanna bring that up" Bringing up old arguments and continuing to fight them out even though you know you'll never convince the other person... you keep wanting to try despite knowing it's in vain. Why? "I feel it started at the source" There must be something more. He feels it started at the source, the beginning, the start of everything... the reason we still try when we no there's no reason. It's the reason you are happy, the reason you cry and have emotions and love and want to try.. the source, is what we came from, i take the meaning of this song kind of religiously actually. The Source sounds like God. "What is it that makes you cry and why? When you see a documentary and know the outcome And that it's fucked You still hope Hitler will blow up And that Kennedy will duck I feel it started at the source" |
|
| Built to Spill – Time Trap Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| It's saying that everything you "own" is really just fake, and the place that you call home is just where you happen to be, you could be anywhere. Our little lives are so insignifigant and pointless, and we are trapped by time and confinded to what we "have" now and will never have more. but "guess that's all fair now because guess that's all there ever was, gray and sprawling save your crawling" is saying, don't bother crawling and groping around in the pointless, material things we think matter in our daily lives. "do you want to save your life?" look at things as somethign more. | |
| Built to Spill – Else Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
"Finally I don't mind Worthless tries at finding something else" It's talking about how he doesn't mind when he or other people try to find more of a meaning to life anymore. He has accepted that it's all in vain and that life is pointless but doesn't mind it so much anymore. "Best not talk to loud You're not as smart as you require of them" think before you speak and don't expect everyone else to be perfect because you're not, you don't know shit. no one does really. don't expect it. "Your body breaks Your needs consume you forever And with this lied the need To be here together" Pretty straight-forward there. talking about the mechanicalism of life, how all creatures just have these needs they live to fulfill, and everything you do is because of them. "Funny thing with blood Try to stand but neither leg is awake" literally, it's about how blood circulation gets screwed sometimes and you can't stand up. just when you need them. "Just this side of love Is where you'll find the confidence not to continue" Usually people say the confidence to continue, but not Built to Spill. it almost sounds like the confidence to kill yourself really... to make it end, to break away from the system, the perpetual needs. but perhaps it's just to not continue trying, to not continue looking and searching for more. and yet... that contradicts the first line... i'm not sure. i think i've got a pretty good idea of the song though. |
|
| Built to Spill – Built To Spill Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song's about the ups and downs of life basically... You fill up with all these good feelings and everythign seems happy, but then things spill over, and you lose it all... then you feel good things coming back again and you feel like maybe this time it'll be something real, you're on a role, but you're just built to spill... it's inevitable... And it's how it'll always be, it's no big deal, just how it is. It's how we are. | |
| Built to Spill – Carry the Zero Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Um... I don't think it has anything to do with a relationship. It's about faking. Saying you don't like yourself and finding your faults and stuff, "putting back on your blemishes" and everyone else is just "waiting for you guard to fall so they can see it all" And then it says that you're so concerned with what everyone else is thinking, and vice versa... They're so vain, just thinking about how others view them. And you're just like them! "you've become what you thought was dumb" You try to help but there's really nothing you can do cuz you could push to far and everyone will just get pissed off and hurt.. so you just have to live with the guise and the tension and everyone faking.... you can't even touch it or it will fall apart. the friendships are all so fake and fragile. |
|
| Nirvana – Territorial Pissings Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I agree that it's about society and how screwed up and stuff but that there's no way to fix it. The first line seems very sarcastic the way he sings it, "everyone get together try to love one another- right now!" and in telling them to do so he's just ordering them around and no one is gonna listen to that, see? He's saying it's easier said than done. When he was new to the world he thought the way things were just the way thigns were, everything was a fact, but then he grew up and realized they were opinions. And how humans have animal instincts, mark and defend their territories and are paranoid that someone will take things away and stuff. But even if you're paranoid, people still do do those things. And he's saying we've got to find a better way to change things, but there is no way so he guesses we'd better just wait.. | |
| Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I don't agree with Not Blonde. Maybe some girls don't give up themselves completely to make guys happy and let them do what they want- but a lot do. I'm a girl but I relate to this song a lot. I'd be the creep. Just replace all the "she's" and "hers" with "he" and "his." | |
| Vertical Horizon – Finding Me Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This song means a LOT to me because I can relate to it completely. I think it's about a relationship that's falling apart. It perfectly describes a relationship I was in once. My boyfriend completely ignored me, he didn't even notice he was doing it, and he was always waiting on someone else, and making fun of me even but he never realized how much I was taking it to heart. "But you're coming back again... You don't mean to waste my time..." DESPITE what an ass the person's girlfriend is, he can't let go of the relationship, he doesn't really want to blame her and says it's not her fault, she doesn't mean it. And then the chorus is what the person is feeling but can't say. They don't want this person to try to tell them what to do or explain things to them because she has absolutely no idea what's really going on with him. He is going through things that person can't relate to at all and is trying to find himself and doesn't need her help. This is "deeper than you get", the girlfriend/partner is happy and simple and doesn't understand this suffering or searchign or any of it. Then the next verse... He's given up on it completely now, the person just doesn't get it. He just goes around talking to people now, and it doesn't really matter who. "So much for nothing, but nothing means so much", they're never seeing eachother, never talking, never doing anything, there's nothing. And this nothing means so much, it's horrible. Then, again, she doens't pick up on what he's going through. She doesn't notice when he's trying to reach out and tell her but can't, she's just off having fun with other people. Talking to her is stupid, it's all been said before. Now, they're talking again, he's hearing something, but he wishes she'd just say more.... She's not on the same level as him. It's going off again, the relationship is falling apart. He's trying to just hold on, but she's going off in his mind, going down... it's got to end. This song is word for word what my boyfriend Max was like. It's kinda shocking how much it describes it. |
|
| Staind – Take It Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This song is Aaron telling all his fans to not give up and not to bring themselves down or let him bring them down but to live your life. You've got everything you need, just take it. Seize the day, take control of your life, keep going, don't give up. He's looking around and seeing how fucked up everyone is and everyone's depressed and feels all this pain and he's sad cuz he can't stop it or help it but he wants to and it's really up to you. And he's saying that he feels that way to and he knows how hard it is and that sometimes all you can do is just hang on... Hold on till tomorrow, things will get better just keep trying, never give up. |
|
| Sum 41 – Handle This Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Billabong, that's not what they meant, that's not what the song is ABOUT, but uh they did have two girls come on stage and make out during the song once. It's on their DVD. The song isn't about that, they just feel like it's a good song.. for that. lol. *shrug* | |
| System of a Down – Jet Pilot Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Hey, that explain by Serj really makes the song make so much more sense to me now! It's about wanting what you can't have and appreciating what you do have! "My horse is a shackled old man", that can be referring to anybody who doens't have a lot of opportunity, an old horse, an old man, a little kid, a disabled person, a poor person, whatever. "His remorse is that he couldn't survery the skies" this person always wanted something that was out of their reach more than anything, "right before they go grey." and then it's gone and they never even got to see it. Then the second verse, "My source is the source of all creation," mother nature or Earth or whathaveyou, "Her discource, is that we all don't survey the skies", unlike that horse/person with no opportunities, we actually can look out the window at the view and fly over the bay and do all this incredible stuff but we're NOT. We don't appreciate what we have. "right before they go grey" and then it's gone and we never even appreciated it. Then the chorus is just saying how happy the horse would be/is if/when he flies over the bay and finally gets to see... |
|
| System of a Down – Needles Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| It could mean that but at the same time be about drugs. Like.. we are to the Earth as drugs are to us? Because Daron's part is very clearly about drugs and the song is called Needles... So it definitely does have to do with drugs. But the cutting down the Earth thing works too. "I cannot grow, till you eat the last of me oh when will I be free of you, a parasite..." etc. Yes, it makes sense, but so does the drug thing and its too blatant to just disreguard. | |
| System of a Down – X Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| That's so stupid, Lexi9. And I'm not saying you are, cuz I know you don't believe it, but whoever said that is an idiot. They are not from Afghanistan, they're from Armenia, and this song was written long before September 11. | |
| System of a Down – ATWA Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I think the song is about depression and stuff, as I've said before, but it can be seen in different ways. You can see it personally and relate it to yourself, which I do and find it very easy to do because a lot of people feel this way sometimes, but you can also think of it as Charles Manson. I mean... to go and kill people, you'd have to be sort of numb. I think it is meant to be about him but it's saying "look at things from his perspective." You can do that for anyone. This song could work for the kids at columbine and stuff... It's just a way you can feel sometimes, completely numb and like the whole world is just... passing you by, and there's nothing you can do. So you don't feel anymore. And when you don't feel, you can do anything really... It is shining a bit of light on Charles Manson, but it can be seen on different levels, it can be personal too. | |
| Sum 41 – Nothing On My Back Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I like this song a lot. It describes junior high or highschool really well. Suddenly nobody is happy, and happiness just really isn't cool anymore. Everyone's addicted to their tradgedies. We've all got memories but that's the way it's supposed to be, dont' feel bad for me. There's nothing wrong. And yet still, I feel dragged down. It's about trying to deny that you feel bad, trying to be tough and knowing you're not and getting mad at yourself for it. You're lost and confused, what you thought could not be found. And everyone who's trying to help is just making it harder. You say it's not a big deal, it's nothing... but it's still enough to make you drown. So obviously it's NOT nothing. | |
| Sum 41 – In Too Deep Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
.... what the hell, britrulz? What the fuck does Britney Spears have to do with this? Britney SUCKS by the way... Anyways... This song's about miscommunication in a relationship, being confused, over-thinking it, and trying to move on.. |
|
| Sum 41 – Handle This Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
Really? That's not at all how I interpreted this song. To me it's about losing yourself. It's from the point of view of a concerned friend (or partner I guess), watching as a person seems to be losing themself, fading out, not doing the things they used to do. When it says "I will bring you down" I don't think it means literally that they're gonna hurt them, but more that they're angry because they're hurting themselves, and theyr'e trying to help them. And that person's in denial. They're giving up, they're ignoring you, they've lost something and they don't even know what it is. The concerned friend is frustrated and says they're sick of getting used to this, they're not gonna just accept it, and they're not gonna just do the same thing and make all the same mistakes, they're gonna keep trying. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. |
|
| Sum 41 – Motivation Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I know how they feel exactly. No motivation... Don't want to do anything. | |
| Sum 41 – Heart Attack Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Mine too! This song's about laziness and depression too. Just wanting to sleep all day, and everything is fucked and pointless. Day after day... But nothing is really wrong, not that you can put your finger on, so there's nothing to blame. Nothing to do, nothing to see... There's no reason to worry about shortening the day, you're not missing a thing. Don't talk to me about bad habbits, I'm not ashamed. I will sleep all day, I don't want to answer the phone. Reminscing, remembering when you used to actually do things, you and your friends, and you weren't bored... and now you just hate everything and just want to sleep lfie away... Ahh this song is sooo good. | |
| P.O.D. – Satellite Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song's about questioning and finding God. Simple as that. | |
| P.O.D. – Ghetto Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This is frustration at the world and all the hate and violence and unfairness everywhere. Don't get it bring you down, there are still people who believe in love. That's what it's saying. | |
| P.O.D. – Alive Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song is about waking up from depression. It's about getting out there and trying, living. Bad things happen and you need to accept them and move on, it's beyond your control. Trust in love, not love for a specific person, or love for god, just love in general. Be thankful that you're alive. Don't take things for granted. | |
| Linkin Park – My December Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This song's about spending Christmas alone... Or just feeling alone. Could be after a break-up, but it could also be pretty much anything... My parents got divorced this year and Christmas seemed really weird and I felt pretty alone and this song is just great. Could be my favorite LinkinPark song. | |

I really like this song, the lyrics mean a lot to me. Do you just ignore your thoughts and try to deny everything? Or do you give into it and feel miserable? My friends for a while were all doing shit and I was getting really pissed off, they were all gettin into drugs, so that's what the next couple lines mean to me. Do I sit here and try to stand it? Or do I try to catch them red-handed? You are lonely, you someone. Do you just keep getting hurt time after time in relationships, or do you just forget it and live in your loneliness. Too many questions, it's so hard and you don't know what to do. Everyone around you thinks you're fine, you'r doing all the right things, you're puttin on your brave face but it's inside, by yourself that all the problems are. You don't know what to do, you're so confused, everything is like spinning and you're stressed out, and there are no answers. And in the end, it just comes down to yourself, you can't rely on yourself. And these thoughts lead to insecurities and "thoughts of failure sinking in". |

Um ok, the lyrics to this song are definitely "it starts with ONE thing I don't know why" not love. Anyway... I think this song is about a relationship. It makes me think of my parents actually because this song perfectly describes how my mom must feel... It's about how you try to hard to make that person happy, do everything you can but it still doesn't work. You've done everything you can, pushed as hard as you can go, but in the end it didnt' even matter, everything still just fell apart. I think it's pretty straight-forward. Awesome song, maybe my favorite of LinkinPark's. |

| Sportcarder I think you're definitely reading into that too much. I think its way simpler than that. It's just describing a summer night, swimming with friends and treasuring that night together, looking back at the memories. September coming soon means summer is almost over and soon school will start. It might even be referring to college, in which case they'd be saying goodbye soon. | |
