I think this song is taling about a lost chance at love. Bieng with someone and then losing them..only to find out much later how much you really loved that person. And then follows a time of fear, and desperation. Talking in riddles, as in not knowing or being able to say what you really feel. Through time the persons face even becomes hazy..you stop remembering that person and you end up following and falling in love with a dream. Desperatly seeking love.
