Dancing On The Jetty Lyrics

Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness

We could sit here forever
Just never get old
Listen to the world
Letting God's tyres down

Hit cities sharp nights
The right clothing
Dancing on the jetty
So our feet stay dry

Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness
Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness

Blood is upon the steps
Two thousand years ago
Pray like hell then we go to fight
Another war in the holy land

Shock the world
True story
Snap decisions
And I'm always going
We're gonna watch them keep it strong

Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness
Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness

We're making trouble
We change tack
Put your suit on
Take time to take notice

We hit cities sharp nights
The right clothing
Dancing on the jetty

Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness
Watch the world argue
Argue with itself
Who's going to teach me
Peace and happiness

The lyric 'watch the world argue...' is printed on Hutch's t-shirt on a video clip of Listen like thieves (live in 85')

Great song!

I always thought the lyrics were "So I leave stage right" instead of "So our feet stay dry." NOOOOOOOOO- mind crushed.

Dancing on the Jetty, refers to avoidance of an issue or problem....not getting your feet wet. Possibly in reference to youthful disregard of all the worlds problems. Sort of being to the side of it rather than amongst it. And the actual lyric is "Letting God's tires down" just to name one, there seems to be a lot of false lyrics for this song.

@Kick Yes. 'Letting God's Tires Down' is really:

Letting God's TIE US DOWN

A quite political and personal song. I like how the 68 riot in Paris is inferred in the film clip for this song, giving it a bite it may not have otherwise had. The implication of Jesus's life and execution is similarly quite fitting. These world-historical moments are then contrasted against the intimate relationship of two people. In doing this, the despair at humanity's constant, momentous mistakes in the light of history is very well represented and wittily and smartly conveyed
