Citadel Lyrics
Patron pushed vows aside
Parents blest shine with pride
Lay child down force inside
I play on my position of trust
Leave the child to self destruct
Child ashamed silent oath
Fallen heard shows no growth
Shows no growth chose no growth
I play on my position of trust
Leave the child to self destruct
Parents blest shine with pride
Lay child down force inside
Leave the child to self destruct
Fallen heard shows no growth
Shows no growth chose no growth
Leave the child to self destruct

THis song is about parants (or some adult) abusing a little child.
"Parents blest shine with pride Lay child down force inside" THis suggests that the parants have been blessed with a baby. The force implies that the parents have raped or sexually molested the child. "I play on my position of trust" The parants have played on their position of trust i.e. the child has no one to trust and most likely no one to turn to. "Leave the child to self destruct" backs the idea that the child has no one to turn to. The child has been left and will most likely commit acts of self harm. "Child ashamed silent oath" THe child is ashemed of what is happening to him (even though it is not their fault) he keeps his parants abuse to himself (or herself) "Fallen heard shows no growth Shows no growth chose no growth" This child is not developing socialy or mentaly, and they chose not to. THe abuse has gone to deep for them to care
Nice effort, but I'm pretty sure it's about Catholic priests. Bernard went to a Catholic school, and you'll notice some of his other songs have an anti-religious-establishment flavour (Grave Concern, for instance). "Parents blessed" - the priest gains their trust with feel-good blessings, then abuses the child when they leave it with him. "Shows no growth" - something seems to be wrong with the child but no one can figure it out.
