I see your shadow on the street now
I hear you push through the rusty gate
Click of your heels on the concrete
Waiting for a knock coming way too late

It seems an age since I've seen you
Countdown as the weeks trickle into days

So you come in and put your bags down
I know there's something in the air
How can I do this to you right now
If you're over there when I need you here

My happiness is slowly creeping back
Now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
It must be when you pack up and go

It seems an age since I've seen you
Countdown as the weeks trickle into days
I hope that time hasn't changed you
All I really want is for you to stay

So you come in and put your bags down
I know there's something in the air
How can I do this to you right now
If you're over there when I need you here

My happiness is slowly creeping back
Now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
It must be when you pack up and go

I know I know I know what is inside
I know I know I know what is inside
I know I know I know what is inside
I know I know I know what is inside

You're over there when I need you here

My happiness is slowly creeping back
Now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
It must be when you pack up and go

My happiness is slowly creeping back
Now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
It must be when you pack up and go

This is exactly how I feel when I return to school after the end of term holidays and I get to see my best freind again. I hadnt seen him for two whole weeks, the whole time suffering because of his absence. I could barely last two weeks without him how the hell am I supposed to last the summer holidays??!!!! (they last six weeks where im from) Anyway, this song describes exactly how I feel the first day back from the holidays. By the time we have to go home I dont want him to leave! This song is awesome! It relates to so many people, right? Powderfinger rulz!!!

This sounds like its describing getting someone back and not realizing how good it was to have them around until they were gone and never really getting to enjoy the moments while the other was there.

nah the guys sad until she comes back, then all his happiness comes creeping back. then as soon as he realises how happy he is with her back, its time for her to go again.

i think it describes every relationship that is seperated by distance, that one person who you think you could really make it work with, but if only they lived in the same place as you or you had the time to pursue it. anything where the one you love has to leave and you only have a short time with them. and youre only happy when yorue with them

    Sigh

To me, this song is about a relationship that the guy has a girlfriend and he cheated on her with some girl. That "some girl" makes him happy but yet his girlfriend is there. So when he sees that girl again he realizes how happy he is and how he knows they could be more and be the best of friends....but yet when he sees her after awhile he knnows that she will leave again*

definitely about a long distance relationship. he has a sense of longing for her whenever she is not there... its like time drags by counting down the weeks until they form mere days... He can only realise happiness when he doesnt have it... a case of u dont know what u got til its gone

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
