Bernard went to a Catholic school, and you'll notice some of his other songs have an anti-religious-establishment flavour (Grave Concern, for instance). "Parents blessed" - the priest gains their trust with feel-good blessings, then abuses the child when they leave it with him. "Shows no growth" - something seems to be wrong with the child but no one can figure it out.
