Never win first place, I don't support the team
I can't take direction, and my socks are never clean
Teachers dated me, my parents hated me
I was always in a fight 'cause I can't do nothin' right

Every day I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
I'm a hazard to myself

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

I wanna be somebody else, yeah

La told me, "You'll be a pop star,
All you have to change is everything you are"
Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears
She's so pretty, that just ain't me

Doctor, doctor, won't you please prescribe me somethin'
A day in the life of someone else?
'Cause I'm a hazard to myself

Don't let me get me, no
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

Doctor, doctor, won't you please prescribe me somethin'
A day in the life of someone else?
Don't let me get me

Oh I'm a hazard to myself
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It's bad when you annoy yourself, yourself
So irritating, so irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Don't let me get me
It's bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else (Don't let me get me, don't let me get me)

I think this is one of the greatest songs EVER. I listen to it all the time. And I will never ever get sick of it. I think the meaning behind it is even better. I love you P!nk. You rawk! I don't get how people would compare her to Britney Spears. I mean, Britney lip-synchs & dances around on stage with fake breasts. While P!nk actually sings. And writes her OWN songs!!!

I love this song sooo much! It constantly reminds me of myself everytime I listen to it. I love P!nk and her music so much. She has helped me get through pretty much every hard time that I have had in my life. I'll just go to my room and turn up her music, and knowing that she went through a lot of shit when she was younger and actually got out of it ok, makes me believe I can too. I love P!NK!

    Song Meaning

This has got to be my favorite P!nk song ever! I saw her in Melbourne last week on her Funhouse tour and she sang this and I went crazy! I love how simple and blunt it is. Especially the second verse where she talks about how LA wanted to change her...We just gotta be ourselves and if we don't make it big then we don't. Atleast we can say we're real instead of a corporate fake!

I've always seen this song as a message to the listeners - the only one who can ever truly bring you down is yourself. Hence "I'm my own worst enemy" If you don't beleive in yourself, no one else will either. I love P!nk's music and her "I'm me" attitude!

Well she feels like she doesn't like herself, so why would anybody else like her. It is partly about the fact that to be a singer they are asking her to make changes and she can't. But she wants to.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
