I can't believe I haven't commented on this song yet! It is my FAVROTE song of all time. And Journey is may favorite band. And Steve Perry is honestly my idol. They are BRILLIANT! This song has gotten me through a lot of tough times. It's the first song I ever heard (besides kiddie songs) and I haved loved Journey for my entire 18 years of life. To me, the song is about a lot of things. Taking chances, new beginnings, pushing forward and getting good karma as a reward. Yes, it could definitely be about hookers BUT there are so many people in this world that lead a life that could relate to that of a hooker's, so it's more than that :) People going on a journey, to discover who they are, who they could be and what they can accomplish. Vying to fing someone to love and wishing/waiting to "roll the dice just one more time" I could go into it more, but people have said a brief outline of my own thoughts already, so I'll leave it here :) |

This is a beautiful song, and makes me cry almost every time I hear it. I think he's singing about the pressure that's been put on people to be a 'hero' After-all, not everyone is cut out to be a Superman. Maybe we're not meant to try and fix everything, as much as we'd like to. Our judgement gets clouded, and we end up with more power than we can handle and sometimes make the wrong decisions. Then again, I can also see it as being about a fallen hero who tried hard to be one. But in his own eyes he failed and came to realise that he's not meant to be a hero..... |

By far one of my favorite Daughtry songs :) I love the lyrics soo much! And I can relate =P I reckon it's about finally standing up for yourself and accepting the consequences. Sometimes taking pride in ourselves isn't always a bad thing and if someone is really bringing us down then we have every right to speak our mind. On the other hand, I reckon he's saying it to himself, rather than outloud. Like he's trying to decide what to do. I loooove this song! Has helped me through many tough times <3 I personally think she's calling out everyone who's ever put her down, doubted her and hurt her. I think she's ready to take a stand and defend herself, because she doesn't deserve what she's gotten. She's singing about how fear is a bad thing, but it can make you realise that you CAN make a differenc ein your life. Now that she's realised her potential, she's unbreakable and she's challening people to try and bring her down again. That's what I think :) |

| I kind of see the song to be about an ended relationship. It could be a past girlfriend or a daughter. Either way he's trying to communicate with her and apologize for everything he ever did that was his fault. He's blaming himself for why she's gone. I love this song, it's absolutely beautiful and reminds me so much of an experience I had with one of my best friends who passed away from cancer in 2008. I'm in Australia and she was in New York, last year I went back with my family and we visited her grave. I left a dozen roses on her grave, and I talked to her for almost an hour. I've fallen in love with this song to the point where I listen to it about 20 times a day. My first thought was that it's about a soldier who has someone waiting for him back home. I don't really know anyone who's fighting, but my only brother is joining the military next year and whenever I hear this song I think of him. I think it could also be about a long distance relationship or simply missing someone. I live in Australia and my whole family lives in the USA. I constantly think of them, it's been 5 1/2 years since I've seen any of them and when I sing this song I think of how they're waiting for me and my mom to come home to them.... Great song! I reckon it's about a relationship where she wants too much and he can't give it all to her. No matter what he does, it's never satisfies her. "It's never enough to say I'm sorry It's never enough to say I care" "One step forward and two steps back No matter what I do you're always mad And I can't change your mind Oh, it's like Trying to turn around on a one way street I can't give you what you want And it's killing me and I, I'm starting to see Maybe we're not meant to be" I think this part of the song is referring to how they can't move forward, and he's the only one who is trying to save their relationship. She wants nothing to do with him, and after a while of fighting, he realiases that they're "Not Meant To Be" It's an awesome song and I absolutely love it! They did a great job! |

This has got to be my favorite P!nk song ever! I saw her in Melbourne last week on her Funhouse tour and she sang this and I went crazy! I love how simple and blunt it is. Especially the second verse where she talks about how LA wanted to change her...We just gotta be ourselves and if we don't make it big then we don't. Atleast we can say we're real instead of a corporate fake! I've always seen this song as a message to the listeners - the only one who can ever truly bring you down is yourself. Well I'm not gonna go into a long interpretation cause there's no need for it judging byt he cooments on here xD But the way I see this song is that it's about a young man who's joined the army, thinking "Ohk, I'm a hero. I'm protecting my country and my family will be proud of me. My -father- will be proud of me." But as the verses go on, he begins to change as a person, ripping a man away from his family. Slowly conforming to the cruelty of war. When he shoots the woman with the flag in her hand, he begins to regret his decisions, but only to an extent. He's proud of his country and for fighting for its safety, but ashamed of himself for hurting innocent people and their families. He's seen the horrors of war and he can never look at his flag the same.... That's how I see it =] Love the song though! Excellent job RA! |

This song is brilliant. I agree that the emotion is what makes it soo beautiful. I've read that Eric wrote it about his son, who passed away at a young age. I'm yet to cry listening to it, but whenever I hear it I think about a close friend I lost last year to cancer...we had a huge, stupid fight a few years ago before I moved to Australia. We made up before I left, and we emailed, we snail-mailed and we called each other. Sent gifts on holidays. So last year when she was diagnosed I was...messed up for a long time. And after she passed away in December I got even worse. Thinking how I wasn't there for her when she needed support the most... This song makes me think of how I didn't get to say goodbye, and if she remembered all of our memories together, if she read all the posts I put on her site that updated us about her condition...She was 16 years old when she died. Surrounded by her family, I feel blessed to have known her. She was amazing...a 3 sport athlete, a brilliant mind. Top in all of her classes. Strong, she went to school..even when she had a full week of radiation. I think of her everyday, it's been 7 months now and I'm beginning to accept that I did do everything I could have at the time......and a lot more. Sorry about the long comment/story. But this song really gets to me... |

I heard this song for the first time 2 days ago. I know it by heart now. I love it...everything about it! The lyrics especially. The end of the chorus, "I'm not angry I'm just saying, Sometimes goodbye is a second chance." really gets to me. I see it from a...philosophical view I guess. To me it means that when you say goodbye to a person, or a part of yourself, that God gives you a second shot with the person, or a new person and you can correct your mistake. Put your life on a new track...after all, it's YOUR life, and only YOU can make the decisions of what to do with it. Who you want in your life, where you want to go and who you want to be. "Please don't cry one tear for me I'm not afraid of what I have to say. This is my one and only voice" I really love this part of the song as well. I see it to be saying that he's not afraid to show who he is or speak his opinion. He is who he is and he has accepted it. Now it's time for everyone else to accept him for who he is rather than what they want him to be. This song is great! I love it ;D |

Generally, this song is about drink-driving and the impact it has on everyone: the driver, the victim, their families, etc.. Apparently the song was written about a friend of the band's that was killed in a drink-driving incident. As kind of a message about what can happen and ho they felt/how their friend felt and eveyone else involved. The verse about suicide is a pretty deep lyric, how it feels that you're slipping away from sanity and everything that's ever been good in life. How you feel like you're gonna fall. "How could this happen to me? I made my mistakes" I personally find these 2 lines to represent him asking God why it happened. As one of the stages of grieving, Denial often involves a lot of question asking and wondering why. I've recently lost my best friend to cancer, and for the first 3 months or so, all I could do was say "No...she's not gone. She can't be." Then went on to scream and say "Why? Why her? Why me? Why any of us?" And started to feel that part of it all was my fault...in relation to "I've made my mistakes" He wants to know why it happened, if he was being punished for the things that he had done. I find it to be an overwhelming, powerful, sad song. It has a deep meaning and is full of several emotions that you feel as you listen to Pierre sing. I've always been a fan of Simple Plan's music because I can relate to their lyrics soo much and they've helped me accept a lot of things in life.... |

This song is beyond amazing. Everything it stands for, everything it can be seen as. As far as I know, the story about Yellowcard's violinist being in one of the towers on the 11th of Septemeber and this song being a tribute to the firefighter who pulled him out is true. This song is so strong, so inspirational and gets me thinking (personally) about how valubale life is. And how we need to take every chance we get to "Make your sacrifice worthwhile" which can also be a reference to Christ and his sacrifice on the cross. The talking part in this song, near the end, is part of a speech given on the one year anniversary of the 9/11 attack. This song is absolutely beautiful and I used it's lyrics to support a very good friend of mine who battled cancer last year. Even though she is no longer with us, I still listen to this song often to remind myself to Stay Strong and I always think of my friend when I hear it. I also think of the sacrifices mad eon the day of 9/11. I was 6 hours away from New York City and 9 years old. I wasn't extremely close to the city, and I didn't know anyone in the towers, but I know people who did. It was a horrible loss, and that day united America so much that a lot of other people began to see exactly what this song is talking about. Yellowcard is an amazing band and this song, those who were lost on September 11th, 2001 will never be forgotten for their bravery, sacrifice or contribution to this world. |

But in the end we get back up and keep fighting. Those who think they've never experienced it are wrong, it may have been a small battle, but it was still a battle nonetheless. We've been looked down upon at some point in our lives, and as people are slowly brought to see things as we do, they realise how tough things can be, and how we're all fairly equal. And how they begin to follow what they see, this being conformatism. This song can be interpreted in a couple of ways. A relationship of love, or a friendship. I persoanlly see it as a friendship sort of thing. The verses are kind of about trying to find the right friend....the one that won't leave you, the one who will stand by you. But in reality, the perfect friend doesn't exist,a nd sometimes you need to make a decision, of what's best for you. "Sometimes the hardest thing and The right thing are the same." So basically, sometimes trusting someone, as hard is it can be, could be the right one and they could stay in your life forever. To me, this song is basically what everyone has already said! I belive it to be about a girl who wnats to end her life, and how her parents don't listen to her and shrug off her deperession as a casual pahse of life. The chorus is a re-enforcement of faith, telling her that she will never be alone, there will always be someone to watch over her and keep her safe (namely God). My friend showed me the opening lyrics to this song, so I got it and have been in love with it ever since ^.^ It's so strong, emotional and captures a lot of what most people with depression go through.
