The Fight Song Lyrics

Nothing suffocates you more than
The passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
Your children breath into survive

But I'm not a slave to a god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to a world
That doesn't give a shit

And when we were good
You just closed your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

You'll never grow up to be a big-rock-star-
Celebrated-victim-of-your-fame
They'll just cut our wrists like
Cheap coupons and say that death
Was on sale today

And when we were good
You just closed your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds

But I'm not a slave to a god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to a world
That doesn't give a shit

The death of one is a tragedy
The death of one is a tragedy
The death of one is a tragedy
The death of millions is just a statistic

But I'm not a slave to a god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to a world
That doesn't give a shit
But I'm not a slave to a god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to a world
That doesn't give a shit

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

"The Fight Song" is another hate anthem by Manson. It relates to the content of the "Love Song", showing Manson´s point of view.

"Nothing suffocates you more than The passing of everyday human events Isolation is the oxygen mask you make Your children breath into survive"

Society is always shocked by reality and deny it´s existence. Parents are isolating their children to make them survive. This is related to the fact that the parents of America are always telling their children, that they will be kings of a great big white world whem they are older. They just deny self-made reality.

"But I'm not a slave to god That doesn't exist And I'm not a slave to world That doesn't give a shit"

Marilyn Manson states that he is not isolated from reality and that he isn´t forced to believe in god and the American dreamworld. He is not denying what happens and is not afraid of speaking the truth.

"And when we were good You just closed your eyes So when we are bad We'll scar your minds"

Society uses Mansons honesty to make him the scapegoat. Whenever he has done something good, it wasn´t important, but when he sang about the ugly truth, people said he scarred their mind. This relates to Columbine, when he was made the scapegoat for crippling the assassins minds.

"You'll never grow up to be a big-rock-star- Celebrated-victim-of-your-fame"

This line is dedicated to the children of America that are taught that they will become a "big-rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame". He tells them that this is a lie and that the world they are a "slave" to "doesn´t give a shit".

"They'll just cut our wrists like cheap coupons and say that death was on sale today"

This refers to the worth of a single human being in America. If you aren´t the so-called rockstar your death is not important. The line is also a hint at the death of John F. "Jack" Kennedy, whose death was commercialized. This topic appears in the following lines too:

"The death of one is a tragedy The death of millions is just a statistic"

While JFK´s death was commercialized and he became an idol and a rocl-star due to his assassination, it doesn´t matter when millions of "unimportant" people die. It´s no tragedy. It´s just a statistic. This is also the topic of the track "Lamb Of God".

Well, that´s it. Sorry for possible language mistakes, I´m from germany :)

The first verse is about how fuck up the world is, so we must put our "children" in "isolation" so they will "survive" or in other words dont become a soceity fuck up.

"And when we were good you just closed you eyes So when we are bad we're scar your minds"

that part seems to be saying that when manson's music was just straight, positive-themed rock no one gave a shit and just closed their eyes to him. so now he's playing these dark rock songs he's gonna scar peopkle's minds and make them listen. and he's done that pretty well so far.

This song is great, but I believe in a god. I really don't give a mothah effin' (BLEEP!) if MM does not, nor anyone else, believe in a god. We will just see who is right once our road ends...?

I one hundred percent agree PhroHo

@PhroHo Just wanted you to know that I made an account just to say that you are spot on with that statement. So true. Who cares, so long as we believe what we want to, and we will see who is right when our road ends :)

@PhroHo I think you miss the point about believing in God; it's fine if you do, it's fine if you don't, but in the name of God a lot of evil is done, and it doesn't matter which name he/she is given; God, Allah, Yahweh, Vishnu.... Plus in the US God will be dragged into everything, kicking and screaming, even if he/she doesn't want to. So it's a very easy to rub the moralists the wrong way, just by saying you don't believe in God and MM used that to get his message across; the people who act holier then though are...

This is my favorite song by Manson. It seems to be an anthem for the kids who were so easily closed their eyes to when they were doing the good things everyone wants, but when something bad happened they were punished thoroughly... And we all know this happens to many many people. It's so unfair, and they never deserve it. Why does bad always overrule the good that happens? It's another worldly fuck-up. This song shows that there will be some people who will stand up to the shit thrown at their face and show that they are no slave. They never will be, not once they take control. Also reference to the idiocy of people who show if one kid dies everyone knows about it, but if it's a plane crash they just simply show their names... Truly sad and angering.

This is a song about not beliving in God and hateing the world who think that there`s an antropomorf God.

i think that the first stanza is saying that the world itself is a danger... you cant blame it on one person or group. mm also says that hes going to be himself, because he doesnt owe anyone anything. also, id like to point out that "the death of one" and so on is a slightly reworded quote from stalin.

To me it's saying that I'm not going to cave in and do what the world wants, it's a shallow and fucked-up place, so I'm going to be who I am and never allow myself to get trapped in the slavery of our society. It's an athiest anthem, and you know there's gotta be alot of pissed off Christians. If they can produce their god music, we can publish our own beliefs as well. What goes around comes around.
