"The Fight Song" is another hate anthem by Manson. It relates to the content of the "Love Song", showing Manson´s point of view.
"Nothing suffocates you more than
The passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
Your children breath into survive"
Society is always shocked by reality and deny it´s existence. Parents are isolating their children to make them survive. This is related to the fact that the parents of America are always telling their children, that they will be kings of a great big white world whem they are older. They just deny self-made reality.
"But I'm not a slave to god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world
That doesn't give a shit"
Marilyn Manson states that he is not isolated from reality and that he isn´t forced to believe in god and the American dreamworld. He is not denying what happens and is not afraid of speaking the truth.
"And when we were good
You just closed your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds"
Society uses Mansons honesty to make him the scapegoat. Whenever he has done something good, it wasn´t important, but when he sang about the ugly truth, people said he scarred their mind. This relates to Columbine, when he was made the scapegoat for crippling the assassins minds.
"You'll never grow up to be a big-rock-star-
Celebrated-victim-of-your-fame"
This line is dedicated to the children of America that are taught that they will become a "big-rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame". He tells them that this is a lie and that the world they are a "slave" to "doesn´t give a shit".
"They'll just cut our wrists like cheap coupons
and say that death was on sale today"
This refers to the worth of a single human being in America. If you aren´t the so-called rockstar your death is not important. The line is also a hint at the death of John F. "Jack" Kennedy, whose death was commercialized. This topic appears in the following lines too:
"The death of one is a tragedy
The death of millions is just a statistic"
While JFK´s death was commercialized and he became an idol and a rocl-star due to his assassination, it doesn´t matter when millions of "unimportant" people die. It´s no tragedy. It´s just a statistic. This is also the topic of the track "Lamb Of God".
Well, that´s it. Sorry for possible language mistakes, I´m from germany :)
