Keepin' Up With The Kids Lyrics

now - what i wanna know is
why don't finish your home anymore knock me up and take my funk
cause i'm too old to be keepin' up with all the kids
some - some other way
some other place i could be real important
now - not anymore - i'm just a bore
and you should be disappointed
now - no other way but rush the stage and take away my fortune
now - you should be dead and i should be dead
and no one would be disappointed

I think this is pretty self explanitory. The older generation trying to be hip.

i love this song. but there is only one thing i would change about it. i would change the "you should be dead and i should be dead" to "you should be king and i should be dead" cause to me the song is about Jimmy being agrivated cause he's gettin old, and he just wants to be on top, like all the younger kids. Mindless Rocks and i can't wait to see them live.

The sites list something similar but it really sounds like he's saying "Why don't baby..."- There is definitely a baby in the there. I thought the lyric was, "Why don't baby drive home anymore, to knock me up and take my funk." Which makes some sort of sense. More than "finish your home anyone"- wtf does that mean?

And I really think this song is about how he could have done something with his life, but instead he settled down and raised a family and now he feels like he wasted his life. "Some other place, I could be real important." And now he's too old to bother with his kids- I'm too old to be keeping up with all the kids.

Almost sounds like the song is being sung to his would-be wife.

Firstly i think its not "now - not anymore - i'm just a bore" but "NO! - not anymore - i'm just a bore"

and "you should be dead and i should be dead" is "you should be king and i should be dead"

I beleive that this song is either;

A) Jimmy struggling to understand how the kids still like his music considering how old he is, he cant understand how he can still be cool in their eyes and "keeping up" with them OR B) Jimmy is taking the piss out of bands/people who try to keep up with the kids and fail miserably, backwards baseball caps etc

"no - not anymore - i'm just a bore" He beleives his music isnt as good as it used to be, or carries the same messages at least, another song similar to this in meaning is "two hookers and an eightball" in which he says "can you beleive i write this shit? stupid people thinking i am cool!"

Im not entirely sure, i hope someone can build on this
