As far as I understand it, this song's one of the one's Steven wrote about being in Aerosmith. It talks about when and where they were signed, and vents a lot of the mixed emotions he had about being in the band at the time of the album Night on the Ruts. I have no idea who the woman he's refering to in the song is, best guess is that it could be Eliza Perry, his guitarists wife who he fought with almost constantly leading up to the band's split during the making of the album this song's on.

Yes "No Surprise" was written about when they were signed & yes the girl he mentions, is indeed Eliza & the song is also about the hatred he always had for Eliza, because he caught her with a strap-on dildo on top of Joe Perry doing him doggie style & she screamed out it should be "No Suprise" that Joe was a switch- hitter...
