I kept the right ones out and let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life when I was goin' insane
Tryna walk through the pain
When I lost my grip and I hit the floor
Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door
I was so sick and tired of livin' a lie
I was wishin' that I would die

It's amazing
With the blink of an eye, you finally see the light
Oh, it's amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
Yeah, it's amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

That one last shot's a permanent vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life's a journey, not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings, yeah
You have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't listen to all that righteous talk, oh yeah
Well, I was out on the street just tryin' to survive
Scratchin' to stay alive

It's amazing
With the blink of an eye, you finally see the light
Oh, it's amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
Oh, it's amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
The desperate hearts, desperate hearts

So from all of us in Aerosmith to all of you out there
Wherever you are, remember
The light at the end of the tunnel may be you, goodnight

My boyfriend once told me that i was "the light at the end of the tunnel" for him, now he hates me. It was still sweet though, and I'll always love this song. I just need to wait for someone to save me.

This song helped me through a very tough time in my life. I was all alone, and had kept the right ones out...one night, I heard it on the radio again, but for the first time in a different light, and it changed my whole way of thinking... When I saw them last year, and they played it, it was, well, Amazing! lol! I know I'm a loser, don't worry!

This is A GREAT song, I'm pretty sure it is about the band and their past troubles and ultimatley overcoming them...JUST LOOK AT THESE LYRICS:

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation (they had one last shot with their album...PERMANENT VACATION, which did REALLY WELL and made them relevant again) And how high can you fly with broken wings (Aerosmith's logo containts wings, and during the early 80's they were broken, with Joe Perry gone and numerous band problems) Life's a journey, not a destination And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings...yeah (The band as a whole can't tell what tomorrow may bring, but they are all greatful and happy that they have been around so long, had a second coming, and the fans still care)

EMOTIONAL SONG ONE OF THEIR BEST

    My Interpretation

The song is all about Heroin addiction. It could be any addiction. But when he said "Scratchin' to stay alive" He was talking about his own personal problems with heroin.

I kept the right ones out = people trying to help him stop And let the wrong ones in = Other drug addicts

When I lost my grip And I hit the floor = hitting bottom Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door = not easy to get out of that life style and stop using.

Life's a journey, not a destination = popular NA / AA phrase. basically the whole song is about getting clean = off drugs

My girlfriend quoted this song to me in writing, and I wanted to cry when I read it, even with her sitting right next to me. Sometimes the best way to express yourself is through someone else's words. Love, she be an enchanting mistress, no?

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
