I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin' insane
Tryin' to walk through
The pain

When I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door
I was so sick and tired
Of livin' a lie
I was wishin' that I would die

It's amazing
With the blink of an eye, you finally see the light
It's amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
It's amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

That one last shot's permanent vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life's a journey, not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings

You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't listen to all that righteous talk, oh yeah
I was out on the street
Just a tryin' to survive
Scratchin' to stay alive

It's amazing
With the blink of an eye, you finally see the light
It's amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
Oh, it's amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

Desperate hearts, desperate hearts

My boyfriend once told me that i was "the light at the end of the tunnel" for him, now he hates me. It was still sweet though, and I'll always love this song. I just need to wait for someone to save me.

This song helped me through a very tough time in my life. I was all alone, and had kept the right ones out...one night, I heard it on the radio again, but for the first time in a different light, and it changed my whole way of thinking... When I saw them last year, and they played it, it was, well, Amazing! lol! I know I'm a loser, don't worry!

This is A GREAT song, I'm pretty sure it is about the band and their past troubles and ultimatley overcoming them...JUST LOOK AT THESE LYRICS: That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation (they had one last shot with their album...PERMANENT VACATION, which did REALLY WELL and made them relevant again) And how high can you fly with broken wings (Aerosmith's logo containts wings, and during the early 80's they were broken, with Joe Perry gone and numerous band problems) Life's a journey, not a destination And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings...yeah (The band as a whole can't tell what tomorrow may bring, but they are all greatful and happy that they have been around so long, had a second coming, and the fans still care) EMOTIONAL SONG ONE OF THEIR BEST

    My Interpretation
The song is all about Heroin addiction. It could be any addiction. But when he said "Scratchin' to stay alive" He was talking about his own personal problems with heroin. I kept the right ones out = people trying to help him stop And let the wrong ones in = Other drug addicts When I lost my grip And I hit the floor = hitting bottom Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn't get out the door = not easy to get out of that life style and stop using. Life's a journey, not a destination = popular NA / AA phrase. basically the whole song is about getting clean = off drugs

My girlfriend quoted this song to me in writing, and I wanted to cry when I read it, even with her sitting right next to me. Sometimes the best way to express yourself is through someone else's words. Love, she be an enchanting mistress, no?

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

The Last Dance
Within Temptation
@Kahiara Actually I think the husband passed away, "She sang for you last night She heard you were calling" Many people say they have felt, heard, or seen their loved ones after they have passed. "Don't be scared now Close your eyes She holds guard tonight Go on forward no remorse Life will take it's course" This is said to the late husband by a third part (never named), who encourages him to pass on. Because life will eventually continue. The phrase "holds guard" refers to the ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… ) which is a Christian ceremony held after someone dies. Now it is usually held right after the funeral, but in most celtiic countries the wake is held before the funeral. "She danced with you last night so you will remember All you have shared, a lifetime." This sentence feels as if the only thing it wants to convey is their history together, namely, husband and wife. For the rest it just refers back to the first verse.

Blank Space
Taylor Swift
This song is Swift's response to the negative reputation the media has given her. "I can make the bad guys good for a weekend" - the bad guys are the paparazzi to Swift, but are good to the "player" since association with Swift immediately gives publicity. Any publicity is good publicity and Swift knows this. "You can tell me when it's over" - the tabloids rumor relationships are over before the couple announces it officially. With this song Swift is portraying the way she is portrayed by the media. It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. I applaud the brilliance in writing about how you always write about relationships. It is expected so Swift is giving the media what they want and profiting off the attention.
