I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. This song helped me through a very tough time in my life. I was all alone, and had kept the right ones out...one night, I heard it on the radio again, but for the first time in a different light, and it changed my whole way of thinking... When I saw them last year, and they played it, it was, well, Amazing! lol! I know I'm a loser, don't worry!

The song is all about Heroin addiction. It could be any addiction. But when he said "Scratchin' to stay alive" He was talking about his own personal problems with heroin.
