Bathtub Gin Lyrics
Brett is in the bathtub making soup for the ambassadors
And I am in the hallway singing to the troubadours
The kings are all lined up outside the gate
And the autumn bells are ringing but they'll just have to wait
Where is the joker? Have you seen him around
With his three coned cap that he wears like a clown?
Have you seen his stripped stockings and heard his sad tale
About the kids under the carpet and the purple humpbacked whales?
Here come the ambassadors, they show up one by one
Brett is tasting all the soup to see if it is done
Wendy's on the windowsill waiting to be let in
And we're all in the bathtub now making bathtub gin
The kings storm the hallway they've climbed up through the gate
they didn't mean to be impolite but they just couldn't wait
Here comes the joker with his silly grin
He carries a martini made of bathtub gin
Here comes the joker we all must laugh
Cause we're all in this together, and we love to take a bath.

I am really astonished on how the singer (Phish) Rhymes in every line of the song not only by Rhyming ambassador with troubadours But I completely find the entire song not only interesting but also incredibly out of this world
this song may just be the best jam song of all time
I absolutly love this song.........expecially at the music breakdown part it makes me bounce in my seat or dance while i'm standing :)
It takes a special kind of person to appreciate a song like this...props to all of us who love the simplicity of original music...and props to PHISH
Even though this song is phenomenal without a meaning, I was just curious...what are those crazy boys talking about?
anyone who has ever taken mushrooms will understand exactly what trey is talking about.
@master_debater care to share with us what exactly trey is talking about? i'm sure a lot of people are as curious as i am. i cannot take mushrooms for health and legal reasons, so i will have to take your word for it.
I am probably stating the obvious but did anyone catch the allusion to Rhapsody in Blue? its around 1:40 on studio Hoist. also, if you just happen to be a fan of gershwin AND sublime, there is another little tidbit of "rhapsody in blue" somewhere in "What Happened"
It's just about illusions and a song to have fun with.
this song makes me laugh idk why but its great specally when it says "here comes the joker with his silly grin" "and were all in this together and we love to take a bath" hah amazing song i tell ya
