Never thought I'd be in this place
It's someone else's life I'm living
Wish I were living a lie
The hardest part is when the bough breaks
Falling down and then forgiving
You didn't kiss me goodbye
I'm choking on the words I didn't get to say
And pray I get the chance one day

I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't anybody out there know to never come around
Some things a heart won't listen to I'm still holding out for you

I can hear ya smile in the dark
I can even feel you breathing
When the daylight chases the ghost
I see your coat and I fall apart
To those hints of you I'm clinging
Now's when I need them most
I should get up, dry my eyes and move ahead
At least that's what he would have said

I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't anybody out there know to never come around
Some things a heart won't listen to I'm still holding out for you

Faithfully, I trace your name while you sleep
It's the only true comfort I feel
I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
I still run
I still swing open the door
I still think you'll be there like before
Doesn't everybody out there know to never come around
Some things a heart won't listen to
I'm still holding out for you
Holding out for you

I agree that this song is about someone who had died. "I'm still holding out for you" seems like she's not ready to move on. And "I'm choking on the words I didn't get to day, And pray I get the chance one day" sounds like maybe they will meet again in heaven. I think thats what it means anyway.

Even if the relationship is over, if you're still in love with that person, you'll always have a glimmer of hope that they'll someday be there to tell you they still feel the same.

Sounds more like the loved one in the song has died, rather than just broken up with the narrator. That's how I always took it, though either way works.

Mmmm I think I agree with phydeaux420...I think it's about a loved one who has died.."Faithfully, I trace your name while you sleep It's the only true comfort I feel"....the "sleep" could be refering to the never ending sleep..death. But it still is a very sweet song..I think it's adorable.

I think I'm going to have to disagree on the thought of this song being about a lover dying. Simply because of the line "I'm still holding out for you." I see that as still having hope that the other person might come back...and ya can't come back if you're dead. Plus the line that says, "I'm choking on the words I didn't get to say And pray I get the chance one day." You can't actually tell someone something when they are dead. I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong. But I think that this song just represents a breakup.

I think this song is about someone who died, also. "Daylight chases the ghost" The ghost is the person she hears smiling in the dark.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
