One More Time To Live Lyrics
Look out of my window
See the world passing by,
See the look in her eye.
One more time to live and I have made it mine.
Leave the wise to write for they write worldly rhymes
And he who wants to fight begins the end of time...
For I have riches more than these.
For I have riches more than these.
Desolation
Creation Tell me someone why there's only confusion
Evolution Tell me someone why this is all an illusion
Pollution Tell me someone
Saturation Tell me someone
Population
Annihilation
Revolution Tell me someone why this talk of revolution
Confusion Tell me someone when we're changing evolution
Illusion Tell me someone
Conclusion Tell me someone
Starvation
Degradation
Humiliation
Contemplation Changes in my life
Inspiration
Elation Changes in my life
Salvation Changes in my life
Communication
Compassion
Solution
Look out on the hedgerow
As the world rushes by.
Hear the birds sing a sigh.
One more tree will fall, how strong the growing vine.
Turn the earth to sand and still commit no crime.
How one thought will live provide the others die,
For I have riches more than these.
For I have riches more than these.

The Moodies were NOT religious, they were spiritual, in the most exciting way. Thank the Gods.
@rossyboy Bam! Spot on! They were not openly religious in any sense of the word, their music far surpasses any such label or connotation.

@rossyboy No,not religious but raised in Christian homes. As they (Moody band members) grew in the hippy generation and being gifted musicians, their music and song writing and production reflected a mix of personal life experiences, philosophical with a strong interest in Easter Hindu spiritualism influences. This was the same with many of their friends and contemporaries of the time (Beatles, etc). In the mid 1990s, the band members were interviewed together by a Christian magazine (Christianity Today) when each band member professed a Christian faith. The Moody's even produced an outstanding Christmas album with a variety of popular Christmas songs and hymns. The music of the Moody Blues is highly thought provoking but never included profanity, never promoted sinful nature or activity, at the same acknowledging human frailty with hope and healthy desire. The music of the Moody Blues has been a Godsend to multitudes of listeners and fans over the decades.
@thesithempire, "the band was Christian??" This may be true but not as you think, they were only in a cultural sense, I seriously doubt any of them openly espoused any kind of "Christian" lifestyle as their music rings with Easter religion mysticism. I wouldn't want to hang that label on such deeply philosophical music.
@BDoug52 Let's not confuse the sound of a band with the lyrical message of a band; the two are not mutually exclusive.

Let's also not conflate right-wing fundamentalism with Christianity, which comprises a wide array of beliefs and practices, most of which are not the narrow-minded, judgmental variety espoused by extreme evangelicals.

As with Black Sabbath, Kansas, Judas Priest, the Moody Blues, and others, these were not "Christian Rock" bands per se, but rock bands that occasionally wrote lyrics with Christian themes.

This song evokes in me such a powerful emotion, I read it as him saying he has more than any kind of materialistic wealth could ever buy, but I must admit that his words far surpass just that, he writes on all the negative things going on in the world & even comments on the so-called wise ones of the world who write nothing but "worldly rhymes," but I gotta say Idk who it is he considers "the wise." He clearly takes issue with violence of any kind & says those who "want to fight" are apocalyptic. He is confused by everything he sees in the world, especially the hypocrisy of those would "turn the earth to sand yet 'permit no crime.'" He tells us that he's changing his own world by changing his own life (as well as the lives of others) when he refers to "changes in my life, inspiration, elation, salvation, communication & (most of all) compassion. "

One more tree will fall, how strong the growing vine. Turn the earth to sand and still commit no crime. How one thought will live provide the others die, For I have riches more than these. For I have riches more than these..... c'mon isnt it obvious?! He is talking about Yahweh! He can do whatever he wants and commit no crime!
That's absurd considering most of the band were Christian -- and particularly John Lodge who wrote this song.

Look again at the lyric and think: Who are felling trees and turning the earth to sand? Who is polluting and promoting a single ideology (hint: Capitalism, Fascism, Communism) to the detriment of all others?

The riches that the narrator has is love, which he elevates as the spiritual ideal of salvation.

@Feller The human condition and all its' messy, chaotic endeavours can be turned on a dime... his "riches" are his ability to think of, and thus create, a better way for existing. Is anyone listening? Not in this world, unless the "other" thoughts die. The messy, chaotic ones.
