No,not religious but raised in Christian homes. As they (Moody band members) grew in the hippy generation and being gifted musicians, their music and song writing and production reflected a mix of personal life experiences, philosophical with a strong interest in Easter Hindu spiritualism influences. This was the same with many of their friends and contemporaries of the time (Beatles, etc). In the mid 1990s, the band members were interviewed together by a Christian magazine (Christianity Today) when each band member professed a Christian faith. The music of the Moody Blues is highly thought provoking but never included profanity, never promoted sinful nature or activity, at the same acknowledging human frailty with hope and healthy desire. The music of the Moody Blues has been a Godsend to multitudes of listeners and fans over the decades.
The Moodies were NOT religious, they were spiritual, in the most exciting way. Thank the Gods.
@rossyboy Bam! Spot on! They were not openly religious in any sense of the word, their music far surpasses any such label or connotation.
