Dude, it's not about gay sex...it's about some sort a kingdom in medieval times, he's just literally her consort and the rest is quite obvious i'd say....just cause he's gay doesn't mean every song's about a dude

it's a shame I'm the first to write about this song..this song is obviously about sex. I'm sure everyone is aware that rufus is gay, and because of that, "a blood red moon has spared our bed." since he's not sleeping with a woman, there would be no blood..duh..he also compares, uhm, thrones, with his queen..could uhm, thrones, mean anything else? yeah I'm guessing so too.. the music in this is beautiful, with very little background, and mainly his voice, almost sad sounding about the whole thing..but doesn't he always sound sad? not that I'm complaining at all! anyways, just my guess on another amazing rufus song

This song is beatiful, beautiful, beautiful. I'm not entirely sure what it means, but I think littlelover has the right idea. I think that Rufus adresses the man he's sleeping with as his 'queen' in reference to the word's use in slang in terms of homosexuality, although I really would like to know who his queen's rival is...

Though Rufus is gay, I'd like to naively think that he is singing this song to me. Never really looked into a deeper meaning in it. It's just another breathtaking song that he has beautifully written.

The song is very similar structurally to Gay Messiah, and yea, it's prolly about a night of red hot romance.

I don't want this song to be about sex,I thought it was more along the lines of a girl he knew in high school. But you think of it in a sexual manner..."though my throne's slightly smaller than yours". Wow how profound :/ I don't at all think it's about sex,that would make this song in bad taste I think. I always thought that it might be about a man because of the alternate meaning of the word "queen," but on closer listening it seems to me it could be about a medieval scenario or something a little more complex than a straight-forward love song.

The throne thing seems to me like it's just a comment about the fact that he is not the queen's king (i.e. equal), but instead just the consort. Since consorts are non-royal people who marry monarchs, but can't rule with them, they would have smaller thrones and less power than their lover.

I think this song is about being in love with someone who is very special or important, so their lover feels insignificant, but still happy and lucky to have a chance to be with the powerful one. The line "no more to hide" sounds like he wants to be acknowledged by the world as the "queen's" love and know that he/she is not ashamed of the relationship.

Anyway, I really like this song! The tune and the quiet music are so peaceful, and it makes me imagine a gorgeous medieval scenario even if that isn't the point.

I think it's about the boy he sang about in In My Arms and Baby. I feel like it's Rufus telling the kid that he's not alone and that Rufus will stay by him, so he shouldn't kill himself. But this song was written a lot later I think, so I don't know.

I think it's about how a long time ago a lot of relationships were forbidden. This relatioship grew from a friendship to the two people falling in love even though they aren't supposed to.

The relationship is forbidden because she is a "queen" compared to him.

In a gay sense, it means an important secretly gay man is in love w/ a man who everyone knows he is close to, but not necesarily gay with. The consort wants him to come out, and trust that he will always support him and make him happy, hense "dissolve your mind", like he'll make it so the important things seem unimportant when they are finally together.

it seems its seems its describing the support a man can give a young woman to be strong, in whatever situation that may be. other maybe it really is just about an actual hired consort, preaching to his charge to just let go. but maybe not.
