Things haven't been the same
Since you came into my life
You found a way to touch my soul
And I'm never, ever, ever gonna let it go

Happiness lies in your own hand
It took me much too long to understand
How it could be
Until you shared your secret with me

Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

You gave me back the paradise
That I thought I lost for good
You helped me find the reasons why
It took me by surprise that you understood
You knew all along
What I never wanted to say
Until I learned to love myself
I was never ever lovin' anybody else

Happiness lies in your own hand
It took me much too long to understand
How it could be
Until you shared your secret with me

Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

Mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

Happiness lies in your own hand
It took me much too long to understand
How it could be
Until you shared your secret with me

Mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

Mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over, mmm mmm
Something's comin' over me
My baby's got a secret

Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret
Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret
Mmm mmm, my baby's got a secret for me

Mmm mmm, mmm mmm, mmm mmm

I think the song is about the secret of happiness. When I read/listen to these verses: "until I learn to love myself, I was never ever loving anybody else", "happiness lies in your hands" and "untill you share your secret with me" it comes to my mind that the secret that this person keeps is what you have to to be happy...you have to love yourself, and make yourself happy, cause your happiness is YOUR responsability..this is the secret, then this person shares this great discovery of life with Madonna.

Notice how Madonna doesn't actually tell you what the secret is... lol ... not directly anyway.

'(a)(penis) lies in your own hands'

    'something's cumming over me'

'Mmmmmm, my baby's got a secret'

This song reminds me of the 'Law of Attraction". Which is discussed in the book and the dvd "The secret". Coincidence?

I think this song is about the love of God. Her "baby" is God and the secret is the belief.

"Things haven't been the same Since you came into my life You found a way to touch my soul .. Happiness lies in your own hand It took me much too long to understand .. You gave me back the paradise That I thought I lost for good You helped me find the reasons why"

She's simply talking to God about how her life changed, how she understood things clearly after he came into her life.

I always thought it's written for a lover but I couldn't fit that "Until I learned to love myself, I was never ever loving anybody else" line to it, but if you think about finding the love of God and inner peace, it fits.

And finally "Something's coming over, my baby's got a secret" makes a lot of sense.

The video itself has religious references and watch Secret DWT backdrop, it has religious rituals of Buddhists, African tribes, Sufis, Jews, Christians and other believers.

I saw the video for SECRET for the first time today (11-3-2012). There were a lot of old African-American musicians around Madonna while she sang. I think the secret could be heroin. I don't think it's about GOD. I'll have to re-view vid to catch the transexual and the kid.

Anyway, from what I'VE HEARD, heroin lets you love everybody & everything, at least while you're high.

It's about God, faith and spiritual awakeing like many of her songs.

It's been suggested that the lover's "secret" was being a transexual.

I just watched the video, if you noticed she lays on a person with a dress on, HE has man hands, and you see at the end that she and he are married with a child, and he is a cross dresser, or a trans sexual. So at the end she accepts him for who he is. Happiness lies in your own hands, it took to much for me to understand, how it could be.

She wasn't able to love anyone because she didn't love herself. Finally she meets a guy who helps her through that and she is able to love him. The secret is that he knows EXACTLY how to win her over!

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
