The Storm Lyrics

She sits among the pieces of broken glass and photographs
Reluctantly releases the last of what was her past
It struck without warning or did she just ignore the signs
In those dark clouds forming behind those silver lines

The door it slammed like thunder and the tears they fell like rain
And the warnings from her family whirl like a hurricane
She's drowning in emotions and she cannot reach the shore
She's alive but can she survive the storm

A broken jewel box dancer in pieces down the hall
She's finding out the answers don't change nothing at all
It's time she stopped searching for who's to blame or what went wrong
The only thing for certain is he's gone, she's got to move on

The door it slammed like thunder and the tears they fell like rain
And the warnings from her family whirl like a hurricane
She's drowning in emotions and she cannot reach the shore
She's alive but can she survive the storm

Someday days just roll on by without a gray cloud in the sky
She keeps telling herself, "I will make it on my own"
And her friends they've all gone back to their lives
Thinking she will be all right
As she races through the night to make it home

The door it slammed like thunder and the tears they fell like rain
And the warnings from her family whirl like a hurricane
She's drowning in emotions and she cannot reach the shore
She's alive but can she survive the storm

For me, it's about someone who entered a relationship against the better judgement of her family, and it shattered. All around her lie the broken pieces of everything she had, and she's got to let go and move on. All her friends kept her strong in the beginning, but it's been a while and they figure she's doing okay so they've faded away, but she's still struggling to make it out the other side.

This is about a girl who endured some type of love trauma and has it bottled up inside her so deeply that it's tearing up her insides. When you have a problem, it's important to be able to express yourself and your problems to others. Don't let the storm roll inside of you without having a place to be sheltered and nurtured.

I seem to think that this song follows Thunder Rolls... if you've seen the "Thunder Rolls" video you'll remember the music box being broken.. and the pictures... all of this is mentions in this song..... I wish a video had been made to confirm this... it just seems right.
