Count to Six and Die (The Vacuum of Infinite Space Encompassing) Lyrics
she's got her eyes open wide, she's got the dirt and spit of the world
her mouth on the metal, the lips of a scared little girl
i've got an angel in the lobby, he's waiting to put me in line
i won't ask forgiveness, my faith has gone dry
she's got her christian prescriptures and death has crawled in her ear
like elevator music of songs that she shouldn't hear
and it spins around, 1, 2, 3
and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6
some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts
and it spins around, 1, 2, 3
and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6
some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts
her mouth on the metal, the lips of a scared little girl
i won't ask forgiveness, my faith has gone dry
like elevator music of songs that she shouldn't hear
and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6
some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts
and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6
some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts

I think this is from Adams perspective. I think after he realises all the cruelty in the world he loses faith in everything and turns to suicide. Marilyn compares him to a her, a scared little girl.
She's got her eyes open wide She's got the dirt and spit of the world
Adams eyes are wide open. He is scared. He has all the bad things in the world, the spit, the dirt, in his mind.
Her mouth on the metal His mouth on the gun in his mouth, also might relate to the cover, Marilyns mouth broken off symbolising the quietness people forced him, and adam, into.
I've got an angel in the lobby He's waiting to put me in line I won't ask forgiveness My faith has gone dry
He has accepted that he will go to hell, he just doesnt care or have faith to try and change it because hes so tired.
She's got her Christian prescriptures And death has crawled in her ear Like elevator music of songs That she shouldn't hear
Christianity from the modern world has forbid suicide But the idea is already in his head and planned. He should have never even thought of such a sinful thing.
And it spins around 1... 2... 3 Gun turning And we all lay down 4... 5... 6 This is where i think of the columbine massacre. The kids have decided to kill the school and shoot themselves. (like adam) and everyone lays down to avoid the flying bullets.
Some do it fast
a quick shoot to the head
Some do it better in smaller amounts
We are all in the shadow of death, killing ourselves slowly instead of quick.
I take the general theme to be suicide and the inevitability of death. It works well considering its function (the last song on the Holy Wood album), and it's extremely well done. The whole Russian Roulette thing with the ending is very well done, as well.
awesome song !
is that what the noise is? a russian roulette?
i had no idea what it was.
but anyway, this song is quite depressing for me, because my best friend killed herself while listening to it.
@xoxdeliriumxox that's sad, why did she killed herself? :-(

Its a beautiful song really, just the way he sings it is haunting. At one point I actually listened to only this song, and Coma Black. I'd go around singing it in the way he did. Its a great song.
This is a very beautiful song...Brian really has a beautiful voice...especially on this song and Suicide is painless....both of these songs are kind of like anthems to me. But, like Akasha said...It's about suicide...hence the title count to six and die. It's just about someone (in the song a girl) who's experienced nothing but the shitty parts of life. This song is pretty self explanatory really. I like the part where he says "some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts". To me this is saying some people kill themselves right away...like with a gun shot, or a hanging...or any other various way, while there are people who kill themselves slowly not only physically but emotionally that's where i fall into this song...
this song is so beautiful. and i think rayvin explained it best.
RayvinFae all i got to say is "ditto"
That clicking sound is the chamber of a revolver being spun, like in Russian roulette. Also, a revolver holds 6 bullets:
"and it spins around, 1, 2, 3 and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6"
..And the angel is a bullet and the little girl's mouth is the barrel... I'm in a hostile mood.. It's not meant to be beautiful it's about suicide - not the most beautiful thing. If any of you have ever seen the body of a suicide victim you'll know it's not a beautiful thing, especially if they shot themselves in the head. The purple/blue blotchy skin (not pale like a lot of ideas) and the dark brown blood, grey brain tissues over the wall.. Suicide is selfishness, though i understand it completely. And i'm in no way ignorant of the subject. My point is, Marilyn Manson want you to begin to comprehend the want and the need for some people to end their lives. The person in this song I think is Marilyn, or Brian or whatever you want to call him, not a girl, though i can see where you get that idea. He obviously thinks seriously about suicide - a lot of people do - and he wants people to choose between fearing him or understanding him. Either way he's getting what he wants. He's a lyrical genius and a very clever man, but not a role model. Just a theory ~T~
