Solo voy con mi pena
Sola va mi condena
Correr es mi destino
Por no llevar papel

Pa' una ciudad del norte
Yo me fui a trabajar
(Como una raya en el mar)
Mi vida la dejé
Entre Ceuta y Gibraltar
(Como una raya en el mar)

Solo voy con mi pena
Sola va mi condena
(Como una raya en el mar)
Correr es mi destino
Para burlar la ley
(Como una raya en el mar)

I cannot go forward
I cannot return
And the land in front don't want me
Look the land behind me burn
(Como una raya en el mar)

I am stranded on the sea
With an unknown destiny
(Como una raya en el mar)
No home to return to
Nobody waiting for me
(Como una raya en el mar)

Solo voy con mi pena
Sola va mi condena
Correr es mi destino
Para burlar la ley
(Como una raya en el mar)

Perdido en el corazón
De la grande Babylon
(Como una raya en el mar)
Me dicen el clandestino
Por no llevar papel

Lai-larai-la-lai-lai
Lai-larai-lai-lai
Lai-larai-la-lai-lai
Lai-larai-lai-lei

Prr

I cannot go forward
I cannot return
And the land in front don't want me
Look the land behind me burn

We are stranded on the sea
With my whole family
(Como una raya en el mar)
No home to return to
Nobody waiting for me
(Como una raya en el mar)

Solo voy con mi pena
Sola va mi condena
Correr es mi destino
Yo soy el quiebra ley
(Como una raya en el mar)

Oh my gosh (Lai-larai-la-lai-lai)
I am in pain (Lai-larai-lai-lai)
Prr (Lai-larai-la-lai-lai)
(Larai-larai-lai-lai)

General CommentI live with "illegals" in the UK. "Babylon" of course is the the Babylon of corruption in the Book of Revelation, and the Babylon system of the Rastas, but also the Rivers of Babylon, where we sat down and wept, where the Jews were in exile. (The site of Babylon is near Baghdad).

I always thought the line after africano clandestino was marroquino ilegal - makes a load more sense than marijuana.

The message is that all those despised asylum-seekers, economic migrants, Gypsies, whatever, are human beings like you.

God bless the illegals. Your day of freedom is coming.
