I hate my friends I hate my friends I hate my... Two in the morning here I am turning blue I’m drinking up for an old friend Bourbon can’t clean my mind of this voice in my head "I hate my friends" Cause they make me think about the smile that I’m faking I hate my Yeah, that’s the scene that I am in Lying At odds with every bland image How many excuses can this fool listen to You never cared There was no us only misery and distrust I hate my...

Punk in drublic says... I can totally relate, like it's just about being a fake mostly and having your friends not help you with anything because they think that you're overly happy and you just put on a mask to try and sheild them or sheild yourself... somehow?
this song is so good. i think it's just generally about the paranoia alcohol can bring. when your friends all seem so happy and content and you aren't, and you secretly wish they'd come help you out and ask how you are. until that happens, have another drink and hate them...
anyways, that's what i think...
I think it's basically about hating your friends - therefore HAVING to fakr your smile, and drinking a lot cos you, eh, hate your friends. Also maybe about having an "elite" group of friends and you can't get out of that situation and you know that although everyones always saying how much they love each other etc you knows it's fake. Also maybe about having friends because of the "scene" you are in and not because they are your real friends.
thoughts anyone?
this pretty much sums up my relationship with everyone i work with.......
wow this is the best song to listen to when youre pissed at your friends :-) like now!!!
I think this song kind of goes hand-in-hand with Making Friends. Both are about being involved in a unsatisfying social scene populated by phony, transparent people. "Smile" is about being trapped in it, and "Making Friends" is about breaking free of it. Having lived both, I can relate.
