Live With Me Lyrics
I got nasty habits, I take tea at three
Yes and the meat I eat for dinner
Must be hung up for a week
My best friend he shoots water rats,
And feeds them to his geese
Don't ya think there's a place for you
In between the sheets?
Come now, honey,
We can build a place for three
Come on now honey,
Don't ya wanna live with me?
There's a score of hair-brained children
They're all locked in the nursery
They got earphone heads they got dirty necks
They're so 20th century
Well they cue up for the bathroom
'Round about 7:35
Don't ya think we need a woman's touch to make it come alive??
You'd look good pram pushing,
Down the high street
Come on now honey,
Don't ya wanna live with me?
Oh, the servants they're so helpful, dear
The cook she is a whore
Yes, The butler has a place for her
Behind the pantry door
The maid, she's French, She's got no sense
She's from the Crazy Horse
When she strips, the chauffeur flips
The footman's eyes be crossed
Oh, don't ya think there's a place for us,
Right across the street
Don't ya think there's a place for you,
In between the sheets
Yes and the meat I eat for dinner
Must be hung up for a week
My best friend he shoots water rats,
And feeds them to his geese
Don't ya think there's a place for you
In between the sheets?
We can build a place for three
Come on now honey,

@jkisau To quote from the brilliant film SPINAL TAP, when asked about sexism the ST guitarist responds:
"Ok, but what's wrong with SEXY?"

I think it's about the ways of society back in the 60s. I also think it's about living together before marriage.
@Quartz Are you serious about people in the 60's? What would you say was so different from today? I think the lyrics are visions of Sirs Jagger and Richards with some bits of sly comedy thrown in, and overall not meant to be taken too seriously or too literally. As for the 1960's, even without an Internet, they were way more profoundly radical, more original and more 'down-in-the-streets daring' than that which passes for "radical" today.

I love this song. The Shine A Light version with Christina Aguilera was good too :)
I think it's just a fun song about a relationship taking place in typical surroundings
keith and micks vibes during that era of time in france living at nellcote
@bassuptoit No, I think you are a couple of years early. LET IT BLEED was from 1969-1970 when the Rolling Stones were still based in England. It was cioser to 1972 when the Stones left England for tax reasons and Keith bought a mansion on the south coast of France (i.e. the Riviera). Other band members rented their own mansions within about 20 miles of Keith, although I think that Mick may have had a place near Paris where his new wife Bianca was having their first child. Other band members rented their own mansions within about 20 miles of Keith, although I think that Mick may have had a place near Paris where his new wife Bianca was having their first child. This was the setting for the recording of EXILE on MAIN STREET at Keith's place using the RS Mobile Recording Studio (a van with all the latest gear) parked in the garage but wired to various recording sites on the lowest floor. Keith was in daily charge of the project (in his own way) with Mick required with wife and coming by only a few times, until the very end when Mick and Keith put the album together in France and later LA. Also, in between there was the STICKY FINGERS album.
So which one of Mick's many paramours is he addressing in this one??? Sounds like quite the domestic situation ...
