I will never understand you
When will I stop trying
I mean, 'cause it's just not how I planned to
Spend my time 'til dying

I mean, champagne
California on the brain
She's got an appetite for no refrains
Just verses, she curses as blood vessels burst in defiance
She made an alliance to the dark side of Hollywood
Where everything looks good
So I treat her right as any other player would
Lightly, then she wants to fight me
Too bad, that's just too bad
I can't be around to pick up your bags and your debts
She wants to love me with threats
Not taking chances, I'm hedging my bets
With other girls I'm not providing pearls
I'm free, free

I will never understand you
When will I stop trying
I mean, 'cus it's just not how I planned to
Spend my time 'til dying
I mean

I know loving me isn't easy
I'm home and next thing I'm leaving
But when I look at you it's like praying with my eyes
I follow you to sleep so I will
Find your dream place and hey, I'm not an angel
but girl you make me feel like I know one, one

Champagne
California on the brain
She's got an appetite for no refrains
Just verses, she curses as blood vessels burst in defiance
She made an alliance to the dark side of Hollywood
Where everything looks so good
So I treat her right as any other sucker would
Lightly, then she wants to fight me
Too bad, that's just too bad
I can't be around to pick up your bags and your debts
She wants to love me with threats
Not taking chances, I'm hedging with my bets
With other girls I'm not providing pearls
I'm free, free
Never understand

It's about a guy who's absolutely in love with a girl that he thought he'd never fall in love with. It sounds like this girl is sorta difficult to get along with, maybe sorta needy, and he's never been in a relationship where he's had to give so much attention.

i saw 311 last month, and when they played this song, Nick Hexum said, "You guys like Champagne?" and everyone cheered. and then he said, "Bring on the Bubbles" and they turned on bubble machines and there were bubbles all over the place.. it was really cool

i dont know how this guy feels about this girl....but he is a complete verbal genius when it comes to flattery. "when i look at you its like praying with my eyes" & "im not an angel but, girl, you make me feel like i know one"....any girl would melt having her guy say that to her. guys, take notes!!!

I think he's fascinated by this girl. She's difficult and she mystifies him. He doesn't know if he wants this relationship that's so rocky but it's hard to leave.

I think it's a guy who's in love with a high maintenace girl, he does anything for her but she just sees him as a little puppie that does anything for her but she doesn't really like him just that simple and champagne is a very good title for this song it just says it all don't ya think?

yeah, i believe the guy is in love with a 'paris hilton' socialite type,

&she's got 'california on the brain' & 'made alliance with the dark side of hollywood' (pursuing acting...?) &she's 'got an appetite with no refrains' (partying nonstop)

so he treats her right like 'any other player would'

&'lightly she decides to fight him' (starts treating him like shit, but 'lightly', thinking it's okay)

&he 'can't be around to pick up her bags'

    &he hates being with her,

'but when I look at you it's like praying with my eyes I follow you to sleep so I will find your dream place'

but loves her at the same time,

&in the end, he ends up 'treating her like any other sucker would'

    &he realizes he'll 'never understand.'

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
