Kill The Rock Lyrics
I can handle this but I can't handle anything else
It's my own mistake
It's based on me
And not on my groin
It's the little things in my pants that we're all waiting for
I never really knew what that thing down there was used for
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo
I kill the rock, rock, rock, rock, rock
Then she killed my brain, brain, brain, brain, brain, brain
Nothing hurts anymore
Nevermind
Then she killed my-
You're wicked gay but then today, I think I'll be hardcore
If I forget to take my medicine then I'll be sick
I'm so hot to trot
I'm stealing all my beats from the blacks
And from all the young girls is where I steal my act
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo
I kill the rock, rock, rock, rock, rock
Then, then she killed my brain, brain, brain, brain, brain, brain
Nothing hurts anymore
Nevermind
Then she killed my brain
I can't stand it
I can't stand it
I can't stand it
I can't stand it
If I'm so wonderful then why am I so misunderstood
Everybody has a reason for it except me

I'm confident my interpretation is right, but it could be taken in so many ways, even further than what I'm saying.
"I can't handle this but I cant handle anything else. It's my own mistake. It's based on me, and not on my groin. It's the little things in my pants that we're all livin' for. I never really knew what that thing down there was used for."
--(I) make bad decisions cause I can't handle shit. Being horny isn't the reason for my mistakes. All anyone wants me for is my dick, but I don't even know how to use it properly. (Ha, that sounds funny. I'm glad Jimmy wrote this song the way he did.
"Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, I kill the rock-rock-rock-rock-rock. Yo, then she killed my brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain.
Nothing hurts anymore. Nevermind, then she killed my..."
-"Yo" being repeated could eather be like, they're talking that way because they're wasted and stumbeling on their words, or it could just be for the purpose of keeping beat with the song. "I kill the rock" could mean the way a lot of people feel like emo kids "kill the rock" literally; the way they can be almost like posers for "punk rock" or "rock and role," figuratively of course. I don't honestly believe in either of those labels, really. (I only label emos cause they do it to themselves.) "I kill the rock" could also mean "I snorted crack." "She killed my brain" could be the psychological damage this person did to themselves by trying to be what they weren't. "She" could be meaning someone who used this person, as it talks about in the verse above. It could be someone who left them "broken hearted" or whatever, again, like a stereotypical emo kid, to do self destructive things because they think it's the "in" way to solve problems (not that other people don't do it). --Later on, I think "she" could also be reffering to the crack and the effects it takes on one's brain. It could be reffering to both at once, but I think it starts out not reffering to the crack. "Nothing hurts anymore" = the euphoric numbness from the crack. "Never mind, then she killed my..." Highs don't last forever. That could mean this person's coming down, unless it's just repitition.
Wow, that was long, ahh! I'll try to cut down.
"You wicked gay, but then today I think I'll be hardcore. If I forget to take my medicine then I'll be sick. I'm so hot to trot, I'm stealing all my beats from the blacks and from all of the young girls is where I steal my act."
--"You wicked gay" sounds like it could literaly mean what it says. "You're really gay," or, "you're a wicked gay." I'm going to admit, I haven't made complete sense of that yet. When put in the same sentence as "but then today, I think I'll be hardcore," it could mean, "but, I'm a hypocrite and I'm going to go pretend to be hardcore and mistake it for cross dressing like all the stupid emo kids do." If that's not what it means, "but then today I think I'll be hardcore," could be emphasis on the fact that this person isn't what they pretend to be. They could put on a new persona any time they felt like it. "I THINK" shows that it's a decision and that it's been contemplated; "should I REALLY do this today?" "If I foret to take my medicine then I'll be sick."-- when people are addicted, their bodies build a resistance to the euphoric effects and it becomes something they need to take just to get by. Withdrawl gets bad. Crack becomes something just like eating. You need to do it to keep functioning. In widthdrawl people get really sick and puke their guts out basically. They lose control of all bodily functions. "I'm so hot to trot," = "I act like I think I'm hot shit, "I'm stealing all my beats from the blacks," literally means what it says. "Blacks is reffering to rap and pop artists who write beats, cealrly. "From all the young girls is where I steal my act," is more about being emo. Have you ever listened to the Emo Song by Adam and Andrew, and how they have that joke about guys wearing their little sisters' jeans? This is the same joke. The word "act" implies that it's not real, it's a facad; it's a show put on for everyone else.
"Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, I kill the rock rock rock rock Yo, then then she killed my brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain. Nothing hurts anymore. Nevermind, then she killed my brain."
--This has the same interpritation as before, but here it's more likely that "she" is reffering to the crack. The repitition of "brain" could be more wasted studders or like, symbolizing the way it happens over and over, sort of like a broken record. Or it again, could just be to keep with the rythem of the song.
"I can't stand this."
--People don't USUALLY like being addicts when they're aware of the fact that they are. When you become addicted to the point where the you don't get euphoric anymore, it's not fun anymore. It's beyond a pain in the ass for the reasons I described earlier. It seems more vital than eating.
"If I'm so wonderful, then why am i so misunderstood? Everybody has a reason for it except me."
--This makes it sound like it's about someone adored, but someone who gets problems every time they make a bad decision. It's that whole concept of like, "It's not okay just because I'm famous and I did it. What about all the non-famous people who do it every day, and it's treated like it doesn't matter? The next line, "Everybody has a reason for it except me, " makes me feel like this part is about someone who feels like everyone makes the assumption that, just because this person is so wonderful and looked up to, that this person should't have a reason to make mistakes.
"It's the little things in my pants that we're all waiting for. I never really knew what that thing down there was used for. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, I kill the rock-rock-rock-rock-rock. Yo, then she killed my brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain-brain. Nothing hurts anymore. Nevermind, then she killed my..."
--This has the same interpritation I gave for it earlier.
MSI turns you gay. . . I fuckin love this song
Plain and simple, Jimmy Urine = The Second coming of Christ.
if im so wonderful then why am i so misunderstood. fucking love that line. argggh. my love for this band is getting out of control. i literally cannot go a day without listening to them. loveit.
Four things: This song is partly about crack, for sure, but not a girl forcing him to do it: I think when he says "she", he is simply referring to crack in the feminine third person, then crack killed my brain. It's not uncommon
Aerix, your post made me laugh. That's a very deep analysis but I would hardly call it "obvious"...
Rather than being about the struggle between being gay or straight, I always thought this song was about gender confusion, sort of like during puberty I guess? And kind of discovering it all. "Waiting for..." is what makes me think of puberty.
Also I think besides "Keeping up With the Kids", this is the saddest song he has ever written.
damn dude you really gave this song some thoought
