Was gonna call my friends and get'em all together
I was gonna go and start a band
But everything I want to do has already been done.
Why would I want to go and do it again?

Everybody, plays guitar.
She's so cute (if you know what I mean)
She's the cutest little girl that I've ever seen
Maybe she'll like me if I play guitar
Maybe she'll like me if I'm the lead singer yea
Oh yea! there's so many bands, and we all look the same

I just saw them, up on stage and I don't
Remember how good they played.
He can't sing,
But I'd pay just to see her face, yea, yea, yea, yea

Everybody's in a band yea, yea, yea
Have you heard of my band? oh, oh, oh
We try to be different
But I guess that's nothing new.

This song describes all to well a litle fucker i know who is a dickhead and uses music as a tool to get girls with his fake personality and his pathetic excuse for a band.

This song is actually about how Aaron had a huge crush on the female lead singer of this band called The Goodwin Club.

Yes, most of his songs about chicks back then were about her. He, and most male singers from ska bands back then, had huge crushes on her and were constantly battling for her affection. They probably never got it, because she later turned out to be a lesbian. Her name Was Tami. Never seen her, but she has a great singing voice and i'm sure she was pretty attractive. The Goodwin Club was a great band, and is now very underrated.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
