It's an answer to the Matchbox Twenty song "Push". Matchbox Twenty: "I wanna push you around. Well, I will". Lisa Loeb: "I feel like I do because you push me around" and "No one pushes me around".
This is my anthem to every guy that ever broke my heart. I love this song!
i love this song, everytim a girl braks my heart i turn to this song listen to it and stuff, my band coverd this song great song
I can totally relate to this song. My ex has no idea how much misery he has caused me, and when he feels all relaxed I'm the one that's uptight and hasn't been able to let go of the fact that its over.
"You don't seem angry, but I do."
same with me.
this song could also describe a friendship. U really just get over friends that drain you like that, just like a relationship too.
I think this song describes her finally realizing she deserves more from the person she's singing to than she's getting. She's been pushed around and treated like dirt, and the person acts like she's blowing things out of proportion or that she somehow deserves how he's treating her. She's saying: "Fuck you, buddy. You're not going to have the privilege of my presence anymore. I deserve a -lot- better."
Empowering!
It's about her record label:
"We were almost finished recording the album, Firecracker, and the record company told us that we still needed a single. I decided to write a song that sounded like a song about a realtionsthip, but was actually about the record company not "hearing" a single on the record already. You can hear it in the lyrics, "You can't hear it, but I do." The song ended up being an expression of strenght and power even when someone's not treating you right. When I play live concerts the audience always seems to cheer when they hear the lyric, "i'm starting to ignore you.""
i love this song. Its what im feeling right now
Everybody feels this way sometimes. I do.
