Car Crash Lyrics
tired & jaded
this road is unsafe
have you been there
but time is on your side
you're too stubborn to wait
are you listening
they want you to know
they want you to stay
but its too much to take
so you're running away
it's more than I can bear
car crash
ending your day
at the side of the road
are you trembling
they'll wake up today
to the papers that say
"oh well" it was too hard to tell
he was swerving they were swerving
much too late
this road is unsafe
have you been there
but time is on your side
you're too stubborn to wait
are you listening
they want you to know
they want you to stay
but its too much to take
so you're running away
ending your day
at the side of the road
are you trembling
they'll wake up today
to the papers that say
"oh well" it was too hard to tell
he was swerving they were swerving
much too late

i figure it could mean 2 things, either a) it's literal, about a person who got into a car accident, or b) it's about a friend who wanted to get into the real world. they didn't want to wait until they were ready, they just wanted to go out and do it. they ran away from their family, and then they failed, and ended up ruining their life, or something close to it.
but that's just a guess
anyone wanna help me out with this one?? of all OLP songs i seem to have the most trouble getting to the bottom of this one...
staplegunshy is right. A friend of Raine's committed suicide by intentionally getting in a car crash. Such a beautiful song; he sings so high and it's so calming. It's even better live.
"This song is about one particular night. One of those nights where you are sitting in your car and you're half asleep. Where all you can see in front of you is car lights. There's a blinking light up ahead, it could be the police, it could be an ambulance, you don't know. There's cars backed up for miles because of an accident up ahead. When you get closer to the accident you see a car off the road, then another off the road and a third car with the engine on fire. Your left side of your brain tells you to look at the accident but the right side of your brain is asking you if you can handle it. Looking and seeing people hurt, and if someone needed help would you get out and help. This song is about a night just like that, but this accident was not an accident, the woman wanted to die." Raine Maida
ooh, thanks! I never really understood if this was a literal song or not
my brother had OLP's Clumsy CD. my brother committed suicide by intentionally getting in a car crash on Thursday, November 16th, 2001. he had this cd out that day. it's too much to be a coincidence, especially because I had that feeling. I was driving home from school that day and traffic was backed up and blinking lights up ahead. the car looked like my brothers, but I thought no that surely could not have been him it had to be someone else. He drove out in front of a loaded gravel truck doing at least 60mph. witnesses say that we was just sitting there on the side of the road before the wreck. he died with a massive head injury. he was only 18. So for me, this song is sort of haunting. I get a euphoric feeling listening to it though and I love OLP.
im pretty sure the title explains it all. but anyone can interpret it into what they want.
One of my favorite songs on Clumsy, and it's an amazing CD, so...that's says something. I just cannot get enough of Raine's voice. Ever. He uses it brilliantly in this song, especially around the 2:50 mark. Sexx.
M'bad, and at the 4 minute mark....it's just too splendid and haunting for words.
Anyone who wants to hear the bit that onceagain posted, it's on youtube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=rnTLZ-drkgo
