The Innocent (feat. Mest & Goldfinger) Lyrics

The start of Armageddon
It was just another day
We all saw the news, nothing to say

So many friends are missing
And family members gone
So we all pray that God help them be strong

And now we stand together
Remembering that day
The lives we live will never be the same

CHORUS
And we don’t know why
The innocent die
Will this world ever find a way to change?
And we don’t know why
But we know it’s not right
We don’t know why so many had to die
We don’t know why so many had to die

Hate has turned to others
For their religion or their skin
But hate can’t solve the problem it began
Everyone is angry
People are afraid
And no one knows what decisions will be made

CHORUS

Bridge
And we don’t know why (don’t know why)
The innocent die (don’t know why)
Will this world ever find a way to change?
And we don’t know why (don’t know why)
But we know it’s not right (don’t know why)
Will any of us ever be the same?
Will any of this ever be the same?

And we don’t know why
The innocent die
Will any of us ever be the same?
Will any of this ever be the same?

Wow. This is a really good song. The bands (Goldfinger, Mest, Good Charlotte) got together to write this song to reflect on the events of 9/11. I actually had the opportunity to see this song being performed live on 11/25/01 and 11/27/01 when Mest was touring with Good Charlotte. And for one of the California shows that I attended (11/27 @ the Troubadour in W Hollywood), John Feldman (Goldfinger) made a guest appearance and they performed "The Innocent". It was a really awesome experience since they were all there together to perform it.

This song is so great. We've got all these songs that sound the same, written about the WTC, and not that I'm bashing them...but they all get to sound the same. But then one listen to this, and it's just liek "woah". What they're saying may sound out-right, blunt, and in-your-face, but it's what needs to be said and if that's what it takes, then so be it.

The acoustic version is really good too, if you guys like this you should check it out. I'm pretty sure it's just John Feldman (lead singer of Goldfinger) but it still rocks.
