I need an alarm system in my house
So I know when people are creepin' about
These people are freakin' me out (these days)
It's getting hectic everywhere that I go
They won't leave me alone
There's things they all want to know
I'm paranoid of all the people I meet
Why are they talking to me?
And why can't anyone see?

I just want to live
Don't really care about the things that they say
Don't really care about what happens to me
I just want to live

I rock a law suit when I'm goin' to court
A white suit when I'm getting divorced
A black suit at the funeral home
And my birthday suit when I'm home alone
Talking on the phone
Got an interview with the Rolling Stone
They're saying, â??Now you're rich, now you're famousâ??
Fake ass girls all know your name and
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
Your first hit aren't you ashamed
Of the life, of the life, of the life
We're living

I just want to live I just want to live
Don't really care about the things that they say
Don't really care about what happens to me
I just want to live

Stop your messing around boy
Better think of your future
Better make some good plans boy
Said everyone of our teachers
Look out, you better play it safe
Never know what hard times will come your way
We say, where we're comin' from
We've already seen the worst that this life can bring
Now we expect it everywhere that we go
All the things that they say
Yeah we already know

I just want to live
I just want to live
Don't really care about the things that they say
Don't really care about what happens to me I just want to live

Everyone keeps saying that this is a contradiction to lifestyles, but they made this BECAUSE everyone was saying they sold out, which they DID NOT, they tried something new. & as for the video, they had a making of, & they were making fun of themselves. so get over all your whining, they're still the same GC, just different sounds.

Um. This song is ok, I guess. The chorus is awful. They sound like Justin Timberlake wannabe's. As for the song, I think it would be ok if they hadn't aleady put out Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous. I mean, they talk about Lifestyles in I Just Wanna Live, and they're being all mocking-ish and saying "aren't you ashamed," but they should be. I mean, here they are doing everything they accused celebrities of doing, and now they're making a song complaining about it? In Lifestyles, they talk about celebrities having so much money, but still bitching about everything, which is exactly what they're doing. They're complaining about having no privacy... "Fake ass girls all know your name"..? They should be flattered by the attention. I mean, sure they're allowed to get annoyed by all the annoying girls who get a bit over obsessed and go around squealing that they're going to be Joel's or Billy's future wife, but, hey, those girls make up a big part of their fanbase, and I think it's really rude to go and insult your fans in the cd that they're all wasting their money on buying. Gah. Ok.. I didn't even know I thought half of this stuff until I started writing this comment thing. Okay, bye bye!

i love this song! i just got the cd yesterday and this song and predictable are my 2 favorites!! it has such good meaning: the last verse is so true.. everyone tells us that we need to think about our futures but we mostly just want to go out and take it as it comes hence the 'i just want to live'. i love when gc talks about all the suits.. its great because its like all the different stages of life. its awesome, it has a good beat but it doesnt sound like the rest of their songs.

Theyre probably just complaining about how their moms only gave them 30 dollars instead of 50 to go to the Hot Topic.

I love this song. It's funky. This song is basically about being sick of thinking about what everyone else thinks about you. I think the "fake ass girls" line is actually aimed at girls who just don't act like themselves and treat GC like they're some kinda gods, when they're normal people. The song is kinda a "fuck you, I'm gonna live my life the way I want, I don't need your respect.... and P.S. quit creeping around in my bushes."

I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.

Moyet later described how her song "Goodbye 70's" had been inspired by her disillusionment with how the late-1970s punk scene had turned out, saying, "'Goodbye 70's' is about punk and not caring how you were dressed, and then I discovered that so many of my friends that I'd thought it all really meant something to just saw it as another trend... That's what 'Goodbye 70's' was all about, about how sour the whole thing became."
