Pure ambition burns in me
It's a beast, never to be tamed
And the only peace I can find
Is when I'm here with you
You are the ones that keep me high
You are the ones for which I'll die
Forever we will be
Standing tall, side by side
We're the children of the night

[Chorus]
Blessed are you
Blessed am I
Children of the night

So this song is for all of you
By my side, through and through
We'll roam that world true and free
Feeding you the inner beast
You are the ones that keep me high
You are the ones for which I'll die
Forever we will be
Standing tall, side by side
We're children of the night

Blessed are you
Blessed am I
Children of the night

The storm we ride
Side by side
You keep me high
For you I'll die
Through the storm we ride

Iced Earth is honestly one of the best bands ever and they dont get the recognition they deserve...especially in north america. USA and Canada both have too many panzies with fans who listen to that pop shit that isnt really music...ICED EARTH RULES...im canadian by the way and dont mean to bash anyone but the truth is there

Nothing to be added. Period Iced Earth plays in the same league as all the true Heavy-Metal from Europe, which is quite astonishing these days - when you face that they're from the country of limp bizkit, papa roach and all the other casted-fake-New-Metal-Pop-Shit! (Don't get me wrong, folks. There are a lot of really great american Metal Bands, but most of them are products totally other Periods - for example, the US charts of the 80's were dominated so much by totally different shit, that the cool American trash metal had enough time to grow and develop independently, without getting mixed up with pseudo-charts-filth. But today, the're some guys in the Record Companies, who smelled a lot of money, found out what "the kids" like, and flooded the market (and our poor minds) with Kindergarten-Metal, Kindergarten-Punk, etc.. AND ITS COMIN' OVER TO EUROPE, FOR GOD'S SAKE... SOMEBODY STOP THIS!

Not only did Iced Earth give us a song, they made a whole album dedicated to our country yet we dont care.. they are one of the most generous bands look at most music people today especially rappers, they hate their fans. I wish everyone like Iced earth they are the most underrated band in the world.

Iced Earth is by far the best American metal band ever. I really don't see where talent comes from to get you to smash on your symbols to ruin a double kick and to scream like an idiot. A real band has passion and emotion that show through vocals and lyrics, and talent that shows through in the music. American metal and thrash don't have that. Iced Earth does. I'm not surprised they're such good friends with Blind Guardian (another REAL band) considering this. I would kill to have seen them tour together back in the day.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
