What the artist means She's crooning about the way her lover smiles, even though no one seems to look how amazing he is. She doesn't mind as it means that she has him all to herself, she wants to be with him all night long, not caring about what happens the morning after. She feels so sad when he's away from her arms, she's sounding a little withdrawn on the track, as it seems like he hasn't been around a lot lately. She's sounding really sweet on the track, it seems like she's trying to serenade her lover, maybe that will make him stay around more often than not. She's sounding in tune with reality, it's not every time that you get what you want.

What the song means to me The track is super sweet and it's a departure from her usual badass demeanor, it's refreshing seeing singers stray out of their comfort zones. The track is backed up with amazing production, it lets the singer show off her extensive vocal register, it's her showing off and doing wonders. The track is serene, it's hot, it's super soothing, and an amazing ballad to a lover we haven't deciphered yet. I will give this song a rating of 8/10.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
