Laugh Now Cry Later Lyrics

[Intro: Drake]
Woah, woah
Yeah

[Chorus: Drake]
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?

[Verse 1: Drake]
Tired of beefin' you bums, you can't even pay me enough to react
Been wakin' up in the crib and sometimes I don't even know where I'm at
Please don't play that nigga songs in this party, I can't even listen to that
Anytime that I ran into somebody, it must be a victory lap, ayy
Shawty come sit on my lap, ayy, they sayin' Drizzy just snapped
Distance between us is not like a store, this isn't a closeable gap, ayy
I seen some niggas attack and don't end up makin' it back

[Pre-Chorus: Drake]
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby

[Chorus: Drake]
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?

[Verse 2: Lil Durk & Drake]
I'm in the trenches, relax
Can you not play that lil' boy in the club? 'Cause we do not listen to rats
We in Atlanta, I buy her a wig, she tellin' me Tae is the best
Point at the nigga who act like a killer, but you only one for the 'net
I'm like DaBaby, I'm not just a rapper, you play with me, you gon' get stretched
Ooh-oh
Bring Drake to the hood, surround Drake around Dracs
Even though I got a case, I'ma do what it take
And I never been embraced
And the money's hard to make
So I bet they on they face right now

[Pre-Chorus: Drake]
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby

[Chorus: Drake]
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?

[Verse 3: Drake]
When he tell the story, that's not how it went
Know they be lyin', a hundred percent
Moved out the Ritz and forgot 'bout the Bent'
Valet just called me to tell me come get it
Knocked that boy off and I don't want no credit
If it was me, they wouldn't regret it
Left me for dead and now they wan' dead it, yeah
Heart is still beatin', my niggas still eatin'
Backyard, it look like the Garden of Eden
Pillow talk with 'em, she spillin' the tea
And then shawty came back and said she didn't mean it
It's hard to believe it

[Pre-Chorus: Drake]
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby

[Chorus: Drake]
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?

The track “Laugh Now Cry Later” serves as the first single off Drake's upcoming studio album titled 'Certified Lover Boy'. The track is a hip hop song which features production from Rogét Chahayed, Yung Exclusive, Cardo & G. Ry. It was released on August 14, 2020 and is the first collaboration between Drake and Lil Durk.

What the artist means Aubrey Drake Graham, the biggest artiste in the music industry is in full album mode on this one. The track is the first single off his upcoming album titled 'Certified Lover Boy' and he's fully certified here. The track sees him throwing subliminal shade at numerous rap foes, flexing ostentatiously as well as celebrating the finer things of life. Drake starts the song by shouting out his Toronto roots. The track is laced around a super catchy hook and before you know it Lil Durk comes in with a beautiful and soulful verse that sees him rhyming Drake with Dracs as well as inviting him to come down to his hood. After the standout feature Drake goes hard and reminds us why exactly he's been a fixture of the past decade of music. He doesn't miss a single step on this one.

What the song means to me The song is beautiful and nostalgic. It's a throwback to the days of old when all the songs were anthems and you could play them at home feeling like you're in a super bowl stadium. The track reminds me of his catchy tune of old 'God's Plan' and it shows the boy Drake still has the Midas touch. The tracks production is a keeper and it makes me feel like I'm taking a stroll in the Nike headquarters where he shot the video (such an insane flex). The track sets me in the mood and if Drake's next album sounds just like this, my gosh we are in for a classic.

Have you ever wondered what Drake would look like playing Drake...baby? Well, I haven’t...but that is what I got from his latest hit “Laugh Now Cry Later ft. Lil Durk. Don't be mistaken, the music is alright but it isn’t anything special. And I won’t lie, I actually liked the video - was a little flashy and a little down to earth. Without doing too much thinking or researching about what Drake has been up to lately or the deep meanings in the song, I’ll give you my raw thoughts on the song and video. (...baby)

Drake loves his down-to-earth activities done with money. Wanna play basketball? (...baby) Sure, we can shoot hoops and have our ankles broken by Kevin Durant. Maybe go toss the pig-skin around ? (...baby) Let me get my boy Odell Beckham, Jr to play catch. Wanna get fit like a pro? (...baby) Lets go boxing underwater in what seems like an olympic size pool and run with what looks like a spirometer (checks how well your lungs work) like the pros do for training. Wanna go shopping? (...baby) Sure, lets have insta influencer Aggy Abby shop for a mountain of Nike products. Wanna swing a bat? (...baby) Sounds good, but it’d be better off of Nike’s headquarters in the middle of the night. Did I mention he seemingly had free reign of Nike’s facilities? (...baby) He’s doing everyday stuff we could only dream of, while still seeming to stay regular like the rest of us.

This song and video is saying something, and I’m actively trying NOT to know it right now. Did his music get his message across to an average, 30-something mom who likes to remember her athletic days? I don’t know, but I know he’s been doing some heavy emotional lifting in his life and he seems to have come to a clearing with this. I’m sure he’s not done, but it was important to him to be seen as Drake but also Aubrey. Getting the sh!t knocked out of him by Marshawn Lynch mid-video (pretty funny) makes him reachable unlike other artists. When Drake is crying in his light pink, heart stitched puff jacket and he’s confronted about it, he doesn’t hide. (...baby) Bye toxic masculinity, men can have emotions - and show them too! (...baby) I sometimes laugh at Drake’s songs, but I’m okay with this one because it has a good bounce and seems to be showing personal growth for Drake (and Aubrey) which I always like! Regroup, Drake, and someone better keep some tissues for you...baby!

Drake’s new song, “Laugh Now Cry Later” is the first single off of his new album, Certified Lover Boy. This new hit sounds surprisingly similar to other hit songs he has had in the past. The song “Laugh Now Cry Later” is the result of present Drake mixed with the Drake’s from his previous hit songs. The song follows a familiar trend of both lyrics, sound, and emotion from work previously done by Drake. “Laugh Now Cry Later” is the result of when one of the world’s biggest pop starts is leaning only on his past performance and acknowledgement as a cultural icon. When listening to the song for the first time, be prepared to head back in time and be reminded of Drake’s past hits, sort of like a trip down memory lane mixed with déjà vu.

So let me just say that I have always been a fan of Drake. He truly has a song for every feeling. His new hit “Laugh Now Cry Later” took me just two listens to get into. I usually don’t absolutely love a song on the first go. I admit that I gave the lyrics a read through twice to get them straight in my head before I listened to the song. After reading the lyrics through, I thought it was a bit much with all of the “baby” this and “baby” that. I will admit that the video made all of the “baby” usage silly in a fun, flirty way. Drake obviously knows what he is doing, and you can tell he had the whole visual aspect in his head because it played very well on screen.

Though this isn’t as hard hitting as some of Drake’s previous hits, it has a good melody and laid-back feel that still makes you get into it. But a look at the lyrics let us know that Drake knows he is still on top. He is telling us that he has no time for anyone else’s crap. The part about “tired of beefin’ you bums, you can’t even pay me enough to react” is definitely the mood I will carry with me for the rest of 2020. Just completely over all of the negative jerks thank you very much. I also love how Drake calls everyone out with “where do these niggas be at when they say they doin’ all this and all that?”. People want to try to talk crap about Drake, but he really is a step above them. They can’t throw anything that would stick, and he knows it.

The only part that had me kind of bummed was that the verse with Lil Durk was so short. I wanted a bit more honestly. It was so quick and was over before I could really get into it. But other than that, I really enjoyed the song. It’s not as catchy as some of his others, but his screw it all attitude is for sure something we should all take to heart. No, we aren’t living the high life while driving the most ridiculous cars, but the overall attitude of just living your life moment to moment and not worrying about everything until later is very on brand for 2020.
