Was really just a twinge
It wasn't much
I never meant
To get lost
Forever
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
Forever
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
Countdown
Countdown
Counting down the hours (x4)
Forever
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
Just a twinge
Waiting for the twinge
Just a twinge
It wasn't much
I never meant
To get lost
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
Countdown
Counting down the hours (x4)
We'll just lay there
Forever
We'll just lay here
Waiting for the twinge
Just a twinge

A twinge is a "sharp, localized pain".
"It wasn't much, I never meant to get lost" "Forever we'll just lay here" "Countdown the hours"
Could this be about the moment of a sudden or unexpected death?
Reminds me of death or near death like a coma, or an overdose.

I always thought that if depression were a song, this is what it would sound like... It's so haunting but beautiful..

How I see it related to depression is that the "twinge" was the initial sadness / stressor and from there things spiralled downwards ("I never meant to get lost"). Now they seem stuck in their state and can't see a way out from it.

for me this song refers to addiction. the twinge referring to a needle prick. "was really just a twinge, it wasn't much. I never meant, to get lost." this symbolizes how quick and easy it is to get lost in addiction. "we'll just lay there together" symbolizing numb, euphoric rush. "countdown the hours...waiting on the twinge" symbolizing looking for/ waiting on the next hit. I know pete expresses his own lyrical intentions, but this is what this song means to me. I feel like the damned has a similar theme.
I can see how this song is related to drug addiction. Another really good song about drug addiction is Otherside by RHCP. That shit will knock you on your ass, especially the music video.
A man and a woman start seeing each other.
The man falls deeply in love, while the woman does not feel the same. The woman eventually leaves, completely devastating the man.
The man, mourning the loss of his lover, falls into a great depression and struggles to go on with his daily life.
He is left only with memories of his time with the woman.
The woman, fully aware of how she's affected the man, only feels a brief twinge of guilt.

I believe this song relates love and/or addiction. Man meets woman and falls in love. Soon, he spirals into drug addiction and loses himself. Eventually, he loses her as well and can no longer cope, so he falls further into his addiction to try to bury those feelings. It is the moment between his last high and his next hit that he feels that twinge of pain as the memory of his love and reality hits him. Or it could be just about a love lost. Love and pain hang so precariously from the same thread. Man loses the love of his life because he becomes someone she can't love anymore. The man loses his grip on reality and lives in a state catatonic depression, remembering all the happy moments they shared, making up new ones and in certain moments, the reality peeks through and a twinge of pain sends him back into the memories and fantasies he's created. Either way, a man loses his way and cannot cope with the reality he created, refusing to face it. It's such a beautiful, haunting and depressing theme that you can't help but love and identify with.
I was listening to Parabola by Tool and next this song came so this interpretation was influenced by.
When your life is coming to an end you have nothig but think in how short it was, that came from "was really just a twinge?" indeed "it wasn't much". Maybe you wasted most of your time "I never meant to get lost".
So now that your life is ending you'll become part of the whole, part of the universe, part of existence, "we are eternal, all this pain is an illusion", so "Forever we'll just lay there/here" and know you are waiting for that moment "Count down, count down, count down the hours".
The life is just a twinge and we're eternal we'll just lay there.
I think its about a guy who has a thing for a woman, or used to. He had one moment in time he cared about this woman so much. he would like nothing more than to lay with her forever. "far away" means that she was unreachable. he couldn't have her when he wanted her there with him. "twinge" pertaining to the song means: more a moment. he loved her and realized he couldn't have her. he might of had her for a moment; that thinking about her made him happy.
