| "Boo" is an interesting bit, the spoken words in the song ("As I set down these notes on paper..." and "2X2L calling CQ") are from the Orson Wells radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds" in 1938. The title of the song also comes from the radio production. At the end of the broadcast, Orson Wells reassures the public the martian attack was fictional, saying it was "The Mercury Theater's own radio version of dressing up in a sheet and jumping out of a bush and saying 'Boo'..." Perhaps the excerpts from the "War of the Worlds" are simply meant to illustrate the incredible loneliness Palladian illustrated so well. | |
