To Start a Fire Lyrics
My old friend
Need only speak your name
to summon a smile
I knew you when
we had so much more in common
it’s been a while
Winter was cold
the autumn was dire
Love has no meaning
without desire
If we're gonna make it
we've got to set ourselves on f ire
Something to believe in
to only be inspired
To torch it all to cinders
to only build a fire
My old friend
We used to sharpen our blades on each other
for the fight
We used to plead
with the flame to ever only
stay alight
Our backs are breaking
beneath the weight
Some albatrosses
some Aces and Eights
Our hearts are freezing
beneath their tempered iron plates.
Need only speak your name
to summon a smile
I knew you when
we had so much more in common
it’s been a while
Winter was cold
the autumn was dire
Love has no meaning
without desire
If we're gonna make it
we've got to set ourselves on f ire
to only be inspired
To torch it all to cinders
to only build a fire
We used to sharpen our blades on each other
for the fight
We used to plead
with the flame to ever only
stay alight
Our backs are breaking
beneath the weight
Some albatrosses
some Aces and Eights
Our hearts are freezing
beneath their tempered iron plates.

This seems to be about the experience of getting old friends together to re-start the band. Considering Roper and Kerr co-penned the music, it could even be more specifically about their friendship, although I don't see why it'd need to be that specific.
The broke up 10 years ago, a lot has changed for everybody since then, they're different people.
They're older and more weathered by the world and their former experiences as a band, making life harder. In order to make the band good and worthwhile again, it's going to taken passion and conviction and personal fire.
