My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped her sooner
If the Heavens ever did speak
She is the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
'We were born sick,' you heard them say it
My church offers no absolutes
She tells me 'worship in the bedroom'
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen. Amen. Amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

If I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
To drain the whole sea
Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That's a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable?
We've a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

No masters or kings when the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Amen. Amen. Amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good Gosh, let me give you my life

    Song Meaning

This song is rather Dark, and very Deceptive in it's Meaning and Reference to a 'Church'.

Unlike some of you have said, this song, regardless of what the Music Video portrays, is NOT about Homosexuality at all.

This Song uses the 'Church' as a Metaphor to mean something almost Completely the Opposite. Which is - in fact - The Topic to cover-up it's Subliminal-Message(s).

In the beginning of the Song, the Singer is Referring to 'She' as:

    A) Someone who finds Humour in watching people Mourn at a Funeral. B) Someone who he wants to 'Worship'. C) Someone in which is a 'Mouthpiece' of sorts, much like a Liar.

It speaks of Sadistic-Desires and uses Context of the Church, to 'Worship' either a Living Being, or Entity that he acknowledges and respects.

" She tells me 'worship in the bedroom' The only heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you "

This is purely Sexual and attempts to use Lust as a replacement for Logic and Thinking. He is basically Seduced by 'She'.

" I was born sick, but I love it Command me to be well "

This is where he Admits his Insanity, but states that he 'Loves it'. He is condoning that he is no longer an Individual, as he states "Command me to be well". This Statement is also using Terms right out of right-out of the Bible out-of-context to try and Subliminally Confuse those who are weak enough to believe it. Which he try's to Reinforce, by using Another Metaphor from the Church:

    "Amen, Amen, Amen"

He is trying to Hide the Meaning of his Song, by Disguising it with a Common Statement of ending it with 'Amen', which REALLY Means: MAKE IT SO. So - He's trying to make it Happen, via the reverse-use of Amen.

This is a really Deceptive way of Confusing people. It is a Tool used to provoke Evil.

He also states that he wants to 'Worship like a Dog at the shrine of your Lies'. Clearly, this isn't about The Church at all. No one worships like a Dog in a Church. That's really sad and Shallow to worship like a Dog. *This is purely the acts of worshipping Evil, rather than Good.

'I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good god, let me give you my life'

This is Really Powerful Stuff! He's Offering to Sacrifice Himself, just to Service the 'Mouth Piece' or 'Shrine of Lies'. Furthermore, there is a Subliminal-Message here! : The Way that the 1st line Above was Written goes like THIS:

"I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife". But it's Easily Interpreted as; 'I'll tell you my sins and you can show me your wife'. Or Knife. Either are words of Weapons used to Counter what is Positive and what is Real. This is a Subliminal-Message!! : He's comparing himself to a Slave.

" If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight "

Here, he basically admits he is a 'Fair-Weather' Pegan, and see's 'She' as the 'Sunlight'. He is basically stating his point-of-view as being distorted and possibly Controlled by the entity he calls 'She'.

" To keep the goddess on my side She demands a sacrifice "

This is where things start to take-motion: He is saying, that In Order for him to Remain on HER Side, he must make a Sacrifice. Clearly, he isn't GOOD Enough as he is, and must make some kind of Sacrifice to be Accepted. This is Consistent with a Cult, but also is Propagating a Slave / Master relationship.

" To drain the whole sea Get something shiny "

THIS is something I Missed while Listening to the Song:

A Purely-Subliminal Message, talking about 'Draining the Sea', to 'get something Shiny'. This is only Consistent with Monatomic-Gold, which can be Extracted from Sea Water.

And here is where things get Sexual and Perverted:

" Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse " " What you got in the stable? "

This is purely Lust and Pornographic-Imagery. This is another Tool used, to cover-up the primary-meaning of the Song.

" We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty That looks plenty This is hungry work "

He's basically talking about Lust, and tries to compare is to Slavery, which it could be. And, he's admitting Defeat at this point... It's basically sex.

He goes further, with the 2nd Verse:

"No masters or kings when the ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene Only then I am human Only then I am clean"

He is Diluted by the 'She's' Subduction. He is being Controlled by the She. He Denies she is his "Master" or "King". He compares Delusion with Innocence, which is rather Deceptive once again. And he is in such Delusion within the Situation, he actually believes that he is now 'Clean', which the 'She' would WANT him to think!

And Once Again - He Reinforces this with 'Amen, Amen, Amen'. He is being Possessed without knowing it.

This could be compared to Distraction, Possessiveness, Prostitution, a Dom and Sub relationship, etc. I would like to Conclude, that much of what he Stated in the Opening, is now being proven False. The 'Mouth Piece' isn't 'True', or from Heaven at all. He Bought into the 'Lies'.

This Song could Also be about the Unfortunate Journey's that people follow and lies they buy-into, such as Lust and Deception. The Fallen, who are forever Lost. He may be Exposing the Evil in which occurs all too often in the world we live in, the Mouth Pieces and Liars.

It is interesting, that too many people think this is about Homosexuality, just because the Music Video displays that. The Popular position of Homosexuality is mainly in the Favour of Liberation. What this song is about, is Completely the Opposite:

*It's about finding Love and Contentment in Slavery. It's about Sacrifice, and giving-in to Lies. Then wanting to be Devoured. The Result of Temptation and Deception.

The Title 'Take Me To Church' is Incredibly Deceptive, in that he's really talking about being 'Taken' to a different place. Somewhere Dark, Depressing.

The Title of the Song translates to 'Take me to Hell', as this is where the song goes without the Singer even being Aware.

I find the Lyrics to be Modified for Subliminal-Purposes, and I really doubt that this song was originally Written with the Intent of hidden-meanings in mind.

However, on a Side Note, this is a really Interesting Song, and may be one of the most Unique Songs of this Decade. I just wish that more people could understand the Meaning, without having to refer to more disillusions. Which, Ironically, is what this Song is about

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
