You've seen so many faces that I've never seen before
I left an unrewarding message telling you to come on
Overdramatic, automatically assume I'll stay the same

'Cause there's a change in pressure
We're never gonna lie to you
(A change in pressure)
My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating
(A change in pressure)
We'll bleed the same way
(A change in pressure)
Oh, my broken veins say

Well I stay tuned and listen to the news
And try to fall asleep at night
Because I'm living in a house with just three walls
So I'm always getting recognized

'Cause there's a change in pressure
We're never gonna lie to you
(A change in pressure)
My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating
(A change in pressure)
We'll bleed the same way
(A change in pressure)
Oh, my broken veins say

(Change in pressure)
(Change in pressure)
(Change in pressure)
(Change in pressure)

'Cause there's a change in pressure
We're never gonna lie to you
(A change in pressure)
My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating
(A change in pressure)
We'll bleed the same way
(A change in pressure)

Oh, my broken veins say

The way I personally interpret the song is that the author is just on the verge of a new relationship. His life has been static, unchanging, while her's has been one that is exactly the opposite. He feels a deep connection with her, and he uses imagery of blood to convey this. He seems depressed, but feels like she may understand him, and he is willing to risk everything to open himself up to her.

The lyrics are very ambiguous, and ultimately will mean something different to everyone. I love this song and this band though, their music is beautiful.

    My Interpretation

I think this is about the suicide of a loved one.

"You've seen so many faces that I've never seen before"

    She's in the afterlife.

"I left an un-rewarding message telling you to come on"

He tried calling her when she didn't show up somewhere on time. He left her a voicemail telling her to hurry up. The reason she didn't answer is because she already took her life.

"Over dramatic, automatically assume I'll stay the same"

She knows he's reactionary in nature and should have known better than to assume he'd be able to go on after her death.

    "There's a change in pressure"

The pressure in the room changed when he found out about her death.

"We're never gonna lie to you"

Don't have a good explanation for this line.

"My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating 'We'll bleed the same way'"

He slit his wrists in response to her suicide.

"Well I stay tuned, listen to the news and try to fall asleep at night Because I'm living in a house with just three walls So I'm always getting recognized"

He is restless after her death. So many different people are now checking up on him and trying to comfort him now that she's gone so he feels he has no time to privately deal with things.

This song isn’t about Matty, himself, or his band’s fame. I’m pretty positive its about his parents' fame and how he had to grow up with it.

When he says, “You’ve seen so many faces that I’ve never seen before”, it means that his parents were traveling most of the time, while he and his brother were at home.

When he says, “Well I stay tuned, listen to the news and try to fall asleep at night”, he’s talking about how his parents were always on tv and in tabloids.

“Because I’m living in a house with just three walls, So I’m always getting recognized” means that the tabloids were always up in their business because of his parents' fame and how he’s always getting recognized not for who he is, but for his parents are.

    Song Meaning

This is a song about a guy asking his girlfriend about other guys she's been with. The girl thinks the guy is being overly dramatic, but by the end he assures her he's being serious.

"You've seen so many faces that I've never seen before." (You've been with so many guys whom I'm not familiar with.)

"I left an unrewarding message telling you to come on." (I sent you a stern message asking you to tell me about these guys, which should be an obligation to you anyway since we're in a relationship.)

"Over dramatic, automatically assume I'll stay the same." (I'm being too dramatic for you, and you think I'm not really like this and I must be disingenuous right now.)

"There's a change in pressure." "We're never gonna lie to you." (I'm just putting some pressure on you, I'm not lying about my passionate concern.) [When the narrator says "we're", he's referring to both himself and his "broken veins", AKA his heart damaged from failed, past relationships.]

"My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating, we'll bleed the same way." "Oh, my broken veins say." (My damaged heart knows that if my passion for you goes away, we'll both be hurt. Therefore, appreciate my concern.)

"Well I stay tuned, and listen to the news, and try to fall asleep at night." "Because I'm living in a house with just three walls, so I'm always getting recognized." (I live a transparent life very open to the people around me, and I clearly exhibit this due to my inoffensive, simple lifestyle. Therefore, it's unlikely that I'd lie or be disingenuous towards you.)

my interpretation to this song is it is about a couple that is quite opposite to each other

(My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating We'll bleed the same way) he is referring to how if he stops loving I guess he would be the same as her since she has stopped already. (change in pressure) the line is referring to how the pressure has changed meaning that their relationship had took a turn. Over dramatic, automatically assume I'll stay the same

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
