About people who are famous such as rock stars, don't wanna be used by others, they are human beings like anyone else. They exist in this world and are not just withered stones with no emotions, they are like anyone else. Don't use them, don't carve your initials into them to ride their coat tails and try to get own self famous in the process.

in my opinion this song is about a harmfull relationship. She descibes him as Rained and weathered, erasing, hard to read,she finds him distant, outwardly rough, obscene.(usually artists are like this)

he is sicken of what she says about him: Have a guess, I don’t let you look inside.He is purposely distant to her.

he wants her to not count on him so much -I’m not a cornerstone in a palace for you- -I know you think I’m wrong but I’m not your tour guide

Its like she descibes him as Cold and dry a stone Cold dry stone in feelings(do you get me?)

and then he announce this! ice covered rocks still MOVE meaning that he can move on and leave her

I could feel the stone(s) weight on my back, which must be what was planned and could be referring to the weight on the members' backs since Layne's death, maybe even since they were formed. Words good and bad, rumors, guesses all through 25 years, a quarter century.... They're tired and moody, but could still sound heavy and mysterious, as if saying " we're not dead yet ".
