All along it was a fever
A cold sweat, hot headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, and said, "Show me something"
He said, "If you dare, come a little closer"

'Round and around and around and around we go
Oh, now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay

It's not much of a life you're living
It's not just something you take, it's given

Round and around and around and around we go
Oh, now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
And I want you to stay

Ooh, the reason I hold on
Ooh, 'cause I need this hole gone
Well, funny you're the broken one
But I'm the only one who needed saving
'Cause when you never see the light
It's hard to know which one of us is caving

Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay
Stay
I want you to stay
Ooh

    My Interpretation

"All along it was a fever A cold sweat, hot headed believer I threw my hands in the air I said show me something He said, if you dare come a little closer"

-She is reflecting on the intensity of their relationship from the beginning, in my opinion. However, there are some strains on their relationship that make it difficult, perhaps his past (or present baggage) is preventing him from being able to move forward and give her what she needs. She throws her hands in the air, hoping he'll give her more. When she finally expresses this to him, he says it's okay to get closer to him. The reason he says "if you dare," is because he knows he has a lot of baggage he must deal with and that it would likely affect her at this time.

"Round and around and around and around we go Oh now tell me, now tell me, now tell me now you know"

-His personal stuff is making the relationship not getting any better. Again, it puts a strain on the whole thing, where they must work hard for it to work out. Hence, "round and around we go." The "now tell me now you know," is her needing open communication to know what's going on with hope that he'll be more emotionally available to her as time goes on.

"Not really sure how to feel about it Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you It takes me all the way I want you to stay"

She knows the relationship is a struggle, difficult for her to deal with emotionally, and maybe the odds are against them. They may not be able to even spend much time together given certain circumstances. However, there's just something about him she can't put a finger on that makes her stay. When she is able to be with him and things are good, he makes her so happy and fulfilled to the point where she needs him and does not want him to leave.

"It's not much of a life you're living It's not just something you take, it's given Round and around, and around, and around we go Oh now tell me, now tell me, now tell me, now you know"

He notices that his difficulties being emotionally available to her is taking a toll on her own wellbeing. "It's not something you take, it's given," would imply that he knows she deserves more, but he's only capable of giving so much in the relationship at this time. He's aware of how there isn't much he can do at this time to make things easier, so they go round and around.

"Not really sure how to feel about it Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you It takes me all the way I want you to stay"

In spite of their struggles, there's that something-about-her quality where he does not want to let go of her either. She truly makes him feel very happy when they do spend time together and gives his chaotic life some peace.

"Oh the reason I hold on Oh 'cause I need this hole gone Funny you're the broken one but I'm the only one who needed saving 'Cause when you never see the light, it's hard to know which one of us is caving"

She holds on, because from the very beginning, there was something missing from her life. Maybe she suffered a tremendous loss, and he's filled that hole for her. He all along was broken and entered the relationship looking for solace, but he ended up filling a void that was inside of her ("saving" her). However, they both don't know where the relationship is going. They can't really see the light.

Beautiful song with different meanings to different people. It sums up how I feel lately when it comes to a relationship.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
