What is a man, who lays a hand on his lover, and calls it tough love
What is a man, who can't take a stand for his daughter, and calls it tough love
Your roots grow in the crack of the alleys, college park made you
Man enough to see man enough to see, there ain't a goddamn man in me

Take me back to a date, before I was hostile and learned to hate

You promised yourself you would never become,
A storm a blackout replicating the one
The thunder inside him became your life
And you called him your best friend till the day you were nine

Hotel rooms, bourbon, and broads, a drifter living life, without God
You've done it now, you planted a seed, now the storm inside you, it swallows her

And I know life can be so strange
But I know I can make a change
I'm gonna wipe away the clouds for ya

I'm gonna be around for ya, I'm gonna paint the town for ya,
I'm gonna make a promise to give you everything you want and need,
But she fucked up now, cause she's bearing another mouth you can't feed

Cease production of a destructive breed,
Seek help cause your pride only makes you wea

    My Opinion

:'( Sad but true story; Many have suffered through this cycle of pain but I hope the future put an end to it.

    Song Meaning

ah! tyler posted the meaning on his tumblr today. all week he's posting a breakdown of each song's meaning on the ep.

"Princeton Avenue is the story of a boy who was born and raised in College Park, Atlanta. In the projects of a street called Princeton Avenue in a government home, this kid was brought up by a disturbed mother and an abusive, alcoholic father. Being corrupted by his father’s ways, he was only taught that his life would be nothing but a terrifying storm. He grows up to become one with the storm of his father, and he leaves home and lives a life of drugs and depression. Now an older angry man, sleeping with whore after whore and passing out in hotel rooms, he ends up getting a woman pregnant. The daughter he has is left with him and this makes things worse. He raises his daughter the same way he was raised, in the storm. Angry and abusive the junkie hits rock bottom. At that point in time he finally comes to terms with his ways and decides that its time to make a change for his daughters sake. Is it too late? Because he’s given her hell for 15 years she’s already grown custom to his ways, she followed his footsteps and now she’s pregnant with God knows who’s child. The father can’t handle another mouth to feed… and the storm has returned. He goes downhill now, just like his father. He will never escape the storm.

The point of this song is to shed light on the fact that each generation being corrupted is becoming a never ending cycle. Cease production of a destructive breed, seek help cause your pride only makes you weak. Make a change now, or it will just continue.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
