[Part 1 - "Her Monologue"]

Being alone, are you scared of being alone?
Worried you'll be a shadow,
Terrified of getting old?

Insomnia tapers your eyelids and the adderall taught you how I lived.
So flip a coin for every shade of gray.
I bet you pick a needle to bargain with.
Heads I bet you fall asleep, get tangled in the sheets,
Suffocate as you choke at the thought of your own dreams.
You never fail to feel hollow now hush and let the dark swallow.

Move a little closer, what are you afraid of?
Set the night on fire, baby burn it up.
Tattooed on your chest, I.S.S.U.E.S.
Move a little closer, what are you afraid of? (What are you afraid of?)

Zanies and panties on the floor to numb the pain.
Another one night stand at the door you go insane!
I can see you sleep through your bedroom window.
You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

I am manic-depressive,
Flipping coins for my fate.
Now ain't that impressive?
Tails you never fail to feel hollow now hush and let the dark swallow.

Move a little closer, what are you afraid of?
Set the night on fire, baby burn it up.
Tattooed on your chest, I.S.S.U.E.S.
Move a little closer, what are you afraid of? (What are you afraid of?)

My mind goes on and on and on with you.
Move a little closer, baby girl.

I am manic-depressive,
Flipping coins for my fate.
Now ain't that impressive?

[Part 2 - "Embrace Your Issues"]

Like a coward in their darkest hour,
Counting flowers for the petals when they love me not.
Got you flippin' that position like a motherfuckin' opportunist,
Play from the pawns of the discord.
You're burnin' out.
Your stars are faded, why word 'em out?
Find freedom in the fact that no one will miss you.
Come in, shut the door and embrace your issues.

(Inaudible arguing in the background.)

Yo, look,
I done heard a little bit about ISSUES,
But none compared to the shit that I got with you.
Cause I swear to God that you've got too much goin' on.
Let's start somethin' new.
Lemme get my shit, lemme get in my whip, hit shift,
Then I'll drive to you.
Let me think a bit 'bout this,
Cause I been really iffy on whether or not I'm sliding through.
You got me trippin' a little bit,
And I'm thinkin' of figurin' how I can get it together,
Cause I'm losin'.
Cause I'm literally getting the feeling you get when you itching to keep that drug you keep usin'.
Excuse me as I tear myself from the ground,
And I keep to myself,
Cause while I been thinkin' about the shit that you're putting me through,
I'm thinkin' that I'm a go with someone else,
And I'm feelin' like:

YEAH!
Like a coward in their darkest hour,
Counting flowers for the petals when they love me not.
Got you flippin' that position like a motherfuckin' opportunist,
Play from the pawns of the discord.
You're burnin' out.
Your stars are faded why word 'em out?
Find freedom in the fact that no one will miss you.
Come in, shut the door and embrace your—
Issues, issues, issues,
No one will miss you.
Hey, yeah...

There's a whole extra two minutes at the end of this song that's a rap. The lyrics aren't anywhere though!

    Song Meaning

Her monologue is very complex when it comes to the meaning within the song. There are a lot of people in this world that miss out on great opportunities because they are more afraid of failing than they are of just trying. I like to think of this as being afraid to dream, or being afraid of your own dreams because of the fear of failure. It’s like everytime you grow an ounce of courage to chase something you love, you choke up and you suffocate yourself with anxieties and you create scenarios in your head of all the things that could go wrong.

The song is pretty metaphorical. Being afraid to dream or being terrified of your own personal dreams; think of it like being afraid to fall asleep because you hate facing the dreams you know you’ll never achieve or be brave enough to even try. You do everything you can to keep yourself awake at all costs, you dare not face the thoughts at all. You take aderol, you sleep with countless people, one night stands, anyone who will come over to keep you awake, you have Issues with commitment and you just become manic depressive over these fears.

Well guess what you have to fall asleep sometime, and you have to dream. There’s no escaping it, youre killing yourself by holding back. By that I don’t mean youre physically killing yourself I just mean if you aren’t taking chances and you aren’t following your dreams, then are you really even living at all?

Don’t hold back in life. I’d rather fail a few times than sit around and feel worthless, because end the end that’s what causes failure.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
