Cover My Eyes Lyrics
I remember the clouds in the summer
And how the light kissed my eyes
When I was a child, it was always this
A life that I left behind
Remember the sun
Remember the rain
They're never gonna touch me again tonight
Cover my eyes tonight
Don't let me see the light
Forever the cold of the winter
Forever the moon in my eyes
Now that you're here, it is always this
I fall to the night and the sky
Forever I crawl
Forever I cry
I don't know who I am anymore tonight
Cover my eyes tonight
Don't let me see the light
All that we are
Never the same
All that we know is all that we need
Remember the sun
Remember the rain
They're never gonna touch me again tonight
Don't let me see the light
Don't let me see the light
And how the light kissed my eyes
When I was a child, it was always this
A life that I left behind
Remember the rain
They're never gonna touch me again tonight
Don't let me see the light
Forever the moon in my eyes
Now that you're here, it is always this
I fall to the night and the sky
Forever I cry
I don't know who I am anymore tonight
Don't let me see the light
Never the same
All that we know is all that we need
Remember the rain
They're never gonna touch me again tonight
Don't let me see the light

My thoughts on this song are that the song is about someone who has become the age where their childhood is long behind them, and unable to face the real world, is shutting away and hiding. "Cover my eyes tonight. Don't let me see the light." Light is often a representation of knowledge, in this instance, she's singing that she wants to stay ignorant of the truth. She chooses to remain sheltered and ignorant, realizing that outside in the sun, where everything is visible, the true horrors of adulthood will show themselves. In darkness, under the pale moon, you can't see as much. So, being locked away, or under the cover of darkness, you can avoid seeing, or in the figurative meaning of light as knowledge, remain "protected" and sheltered away from everything that would reveal the world for what it truly. "Forever I crawl, forever I cry. I don't know who I am anymore, tonight." Becoming an adult means learning who you are, having a sense of self identity. If you lock yourself away from the rest of the world, never facing what life is, you'll never discover who you are.
This is just my interpretation of it though, I might be way off. Chibi did say this album was heavily inspired by the unsolved murder shows she was watching a ton at the time.
Reminds me on Tolstoy -Death of ivan ilyich: If you want to have something genuinely nice in mind, remember just your childhood... ...
"I don't need to run anymore tonight" - i'm sorry, but isn't it something like "i don't know could i have anymore tonight"? I'm not sure though, with my limited english knowledge )
Some corrections for this song's lyrics are: "Forever I crawl, Forever I cry, I don't know who I am anymore tonight." and "All that we are, never the same. All that we know is all that remains." Source: the booklet for the actual CD of Hide and Seek, lyrics are all there. =)

To Me, The Song Is About The Protagonist Falling In To A State Of Insanity Due To The A Loss (Or Breakup Of Some Kind) Especially In The Last Verse When She Say "Now That You're Here It Is Always This" May Or May Not Refer To The Fact That She Has Lost Her Mind, Which Is Why She Can No Longer Rest Seems To Have Lost Her Connection To The World, And What Made He Human "I Fall To The Night And Sky" "Forever I Cry, Forever I Crawl" "I Don't Know Who I Am Anymore Tonight" The First Stanza Refers To Her Loss Of Hope Falling To The Sameplace Again And Again, Second Stanza Refers To Her Empty Depression And Emptiness, And The Last Stanza Refers To That Her Memory Has Fallen To Pieces And Identity Has Been Shattered Forever Remaining Unhappy.

The song seems like a dramatic take on losing something important, possibly a lover, possibly childhood, possibly innocence. Taking the two of the latter into consideration, I could see this being a bitter coming of age song. To me, the song always seemed to be about how when people reach that weird realization after they reach a certain point of being 18-23, where they realize how different their life is going to be and how much more responsibility they have to take on and the hardships that they're going to go through as they wisen up to the ways of the adult world. I think I can recall them saying in an older interview that the topic of childhood, the leaving behind of it and the revisiting of it, are both common topics of their music.
If I were to take the lyrics literally I could see the song being about abduction, though I don't care much for that interpretation.
Hate to be one of those people but since other commenters have pointed it out on youtube, the song really reminds me (and many others) of Lacie from Pandora Hearts. Though it's probably not about her since I doubt they have read that series.
It’s a victim of abuse, physical and/or sexual. The speaker feels so bad that they have left their normal life and emotional wellbeing. They are in a realm of hurt and oblivion. They are now somehow killing themselves or having someone else do it for them and saying “Cover my eyes tonight/Don’t let me see the light” while this is happening to make their end less emotionally unpleasant.
Yes, some of the lyrics are incorrect but were never corrected by the website after seven years. I don’t know why they didn’t make it editable by registered users or in a wiki format. Also, these same incorrect lyrics are on other websites that are “powered by LyricFind” as though LyricFind paid people to just listen and transcribe and not do a good job. Awful.
To me, this song is about a vampire regretting losing themself.
She remembers the warmth of summer and the beauty of what she could see in the daylight. Since then left behind, as vampires are hurt by the sun. Which she probably found out the hard way, as she never wants to see the light.
Vampires are also hurt by free-flowing water, but I always took that as rivers and oceans. They need earth beneath them at all times, and cannot sleep unless it is the earth from under their coffin. I never pictured it as rain, but it checks out because rain goes into rivers and oceans.
Cover my eyes tonight, Don't let me see the light. She's in her coffin, ready to go to sleep, she can't see the sunrise she longingly misses. Vampires are undead, with no beating hearts or warm blood. She's always cold as winter and she hates it. The moon in her eyes forever, as night is when vampires are free to be. She's probably speaking these words to the vampire who turned her, as now that they're there, it is always this. Vampires also fly and can hang upside down as a bat, so falling into the night and the sky sounds much more sensible.
Forever crawling and crying, it could be sadness of regret, it could be pain from hunger if she doesn't want to kill her prey or make new vampires. She doesn't know herself anymore because her soul is lost and she has become a child of the night.
Never the same because there's no going back, but she remembers her life before this. All that she is now is her primal need to hunt and feed and she wishes that there was more.
The amount of times she's almost begging the other vampire to not let her see the light makes me believe that she tried to go out into the light on her own and almost died - and she might be self-destructive in her sorrow enough to walk into the sun and rain and end her curse, but she's died once before... she knows the pain of loss, she found something worse than life, what could happen when you die in un-life? Where would you go with no soul? That's enough to scare her into remaining in this awful place.
[Edit: broke up a big paragraph to make it easier to read]
You can try, crawl, cry, and want to be blind/ oblivious, but Time will still take all of your life slowly away.
But still...oh, .... keep to your in life, at least in mind!!!
Brilliant lyrics, saves lives.
[Edit: The lyrics say: all that we know is all ( good) that remains.]
You can try, crawl, cry, and want to be blind/ oblivious, but Time will still take all positive things of your life slowly away.
The song is about shutting down the present and the future because of this.
Brilliant lyrics, saves lives.
The lyrics say: all that we know is all (good) that remains
Basically its about struggling Hard to have/ keep something nice in mind.
Sorry I posted my opinion twice, I'm not native speaker...
