I once thought that when I first listened to this song, I thought it was meant to be a catchy, cute little song about wanting a girl. \r\n\r\nBut when I listened to this song continuously, I began to realize that this indeed is a very dark song, as I believe the song is referring to an abusive cycle of a relationship that the protagonist of the song is involved in. \r\n\r\nARAYA mentioned in an interview that the song “‘Doctor’ is a song that plays on a revenge narrative. The metaphorical “Doctor” in the song represents a love interest that drives Araya to the point of questioning his sanity; love that is learnt in a cruel place can turn us into what we fear most.” |
