The Birthday Massacre – Cover My Eyes Lyrics 13 years ago
Some corrections for this song's lyrics are: "Forever I crawl, Forever I cry, I don't know who I am anymore tonight." and "All that we are, never the same. All that we know is all that remains." Source: the booklet for the actual CD of Hide and Seek, lyrics are all there. =)

The Birthday Massacre – Need Lyrics 13 years ago
Well, TheBansh33 pretty much has it summed up. It's about unrequited love to the point of obsession. "Bleed me from the heart" basically means, draw her "blood" aka her love/passion directly from the source, "heart". Now, "need me for my heart" seems like she's asking, love me for my devotion to you. Total obsession. A great song with an addictive beat and rhythm, but somewhat disappointing just how simplistic and cliche it is, not their usual type of work. But hey, everyone's a critic right?

The Birthday Massacre – Leaving Tonight Lyrics 13 years ago
Ah, this song reminds me of Lover's End in that it appears as though kids are retelling rumors, the account of a murdered girl, in this case who was thrown in the bottom of a river. It has that old urban legend feel to it. I think it's pretty obvious, but what do I know? I could be missing some important element to the song. Anyway, very nice song with a light and airy beat offset by a dark tone and meaning. Kinda spooky when you dwell on it.

The Birthday Massacre – Play with Fire Lyrics 13 years ago
My favorite track on the album, despite its simplicity. Firstly, lyrics correction, it's "The way is our way, What we say, when we say," my source being the actual lyrics found inside cd cover of Hide and Seek.
Because the lyrics are rather short and vague, there are many interpretations I can gather from them. One was from what I compiled from imagery. The house of red light seems symbolic of a house on fire, leading into a story of a bunch of pyromaniac youths who are rebellious and/or anarchists. My other idea was a more figurative approach. The "red light" in the song makes me think about the Red Light District, and all things associated with it. It fits, as someone who works there or seeks service there does play with fire, rationalizing that because of their youth, nothing can go wrong, they will live forever. That explains the "wanting eyes", and the red light that "burns like your eyes". Basically, indulgence, lust.

The Birthday Massacre – Holiday Lyrics 13 years ago
From the song's melody and the imagery the lyrics paint, I feel it's about this deep rut people can get into. It seems to be about reaching adulthood despite still feeling like a child where you look back to lighter, happier times. Everything in between appears to be gloomy or trivial. So, this is their holiday, the day they spend together semi-reluctantly, to celebrate those great times they can never bring back. This song has a vague level of ambiguous sorrow, so there's probably more to the song's meaning, but that's just my interpretation.

The Birthday Massacre – Blue Lyrics 13 years ago
Reading some of the previous interpretations, and of course listening to this awesome song quite too many times(if that's possible) here is my take on the meaning:

Having listened to alot of their songs, I can say definitively that TBM's "theme" behind their music is about the transition between child and adult and all the problems in between, but with a greater emphasis on the child's point of view. Yes, the picture you create in your head after listening to Blue/reading lyrics paints a story of someone young, a young teen maybe, who finally had a chance to spend their birthday with their crush. This is described in the first lines, where someone is waiting til sunset for just one invited person to arrive, implicating a romantic affair.

"Black tongues" suggests to me demonic speech, or a curse. At the very least, the singer is suggesting the stood-up person is wishing their love interest dies in a car crash. There are definite hints of loss of innocence there, as plastic blue(innocent bliss) goes pale blue(lonely sorrow), and finally casting shadows on blue(spite, wrath, dark intentions).

The hurt birthday boy/girl seems distraught, crying over the abandonment or whatever problems that caused the distress. The fact that it's still twilight suggests either the obvious(they were up all night crying) or they were performing some incantation(again, loss of innocence and delving into violence).

If you ask me, it seems the singer is a malevolent, vengeful bystander telling tales of romances gone awry in which they correct for poor broken lovers using black magic. The growling is the voice of the enchanter. I say this mainly because of the lines: "You supply the..." and "I'll provide..." I just think it fits best this way, just my opinion.

The Birthday Massacre – Lovers End Lyrics 13 years ago
In my own opinion, the song in general seems to take the urban legend route. The "speakers" seem very much like kids, perhaps teenagers exchanging tidbits of rumors and hearsay about an actual real-life event that went down at the local park one autumn. Here's the breakdown:

"Hands cover whispers of the lovers' fright
Fear-cloaked renditions of that autumn night"

To me, it seems kids whispering in friends' ears with their hands covering them(like telling a secret, as kids do), maybe in class or something. They chat about an over-embellished story of two lovers' deaths.

"Digging up rumors of the kids in the park
What awful things happened in the dark?"

Again, as kids seem to do, they greedily glean all the info they can on the event, describing details of that "awful night".

"Take, just one last dare
Pretend you don't care
Till twilight falls
Wait, is someone else here?
And I can't stop my tears
I've never been so scared"

This sounds like typical child's play, literally. Truth or dare, acting rash and brave to a fault, overdoing the dare til you get in trouble, hence til twilight. Imagination goes wild when they find the old cottage spoken of in the tall tale. The crying part seems like something a kid would readily do when very frightened.

"In the cellar buried 6 feet deep
The lover's shaken from a dreamless sleep
Nails clawing splinters from the ceiling and floor
Shrieking like the witches til his stitches are sore"

The kid initiating the dare can't help but reiterate part of the dark rumors. He/she tells it again despite themselves.

"Calling for the other, searching for her lover
Secrets she discovers drain her face of color"

The story continues. I feel the rumors are about a couple up in a secluded cottage out in the park/woods getting stalked there. The male lover gets beaten/tortured and then buried alive beneath the floorboards while the female lover is somewhere else. When the female lover returns, she somehow figures out the horrible truth(maybe she finds signs of his attack, or the killer himself, they never specify. Think slasher film.)

"1.. 2.. 3.. 4 Underneath the cellar floor
5.. 6..7..8 Lover will suffocate"

Just like with every childhood horror story, or any story for that matter, there is a rhyme involved in the story. The kid is beside him/herself with fear, but chants it anyway, classic example of how kids seem to both hate and love being scared. The ending is self-interpretive. Done. There, now I feel a lot better! Awesome song, btw!!

Krypteria – Scream Lyrics 16 years ago
It's Krypteria on speed, a thrash metal style song that's amazing! I think it's about someone trying to reveal who they truly are rather than leaving the story of their life to some publicists and gossipers. Yet, no one wants to listen, of course. So...they scream. Maybe it is about suicide or something like that, but I feel all their talk about bidding a world farewell and stuff refers to the life they live now, just leaving it and finding somewhere real. But that's just me anyways.

Krypteria – The Night All Angels Cry Lyrics 16 years ago
This is one helluva song. The music is enchanting somehow, as well as the lyrics. But a closer look says that its about someone who's screwed up big time and let everybody down. Hmm, still, the lyrics are vague and don't give too much insight as to *what* this person did. Maybe something with the law, murder or whatever? That's what comes to mind when I see the lyrics and all those metaphors; whatever it was was devastating. And def loved the part where things sped up and then slowed down again! Amazing!

Krypteria – Out Of Tears Lyrics 16 years ago
...Wow! This song just blew me away. Love the part where singer says "I'm out of tears but you're still thirsty," but overall the whole song rocks! Also love the breakdown in the middle, very nice. The meaning; simply, the singer has had enough of wasting time and, quite literally, tears on someone who's deliberately tormented them. Sounds much harsher than just that, though.

Krypteria – Lost Lyrics 16 years ago
I can't get over how great this band's lyrics are! This song's about betrayal and abandonment...in the viewpoint of lovers, of course. It's hard when the one you love wants to part ways or be with someone else. But it is scarring and overwhelming when they leave in a flash, without an explanation, a reason, or even a lie, your just that worthless...maybe...?

Krypteria – Somebody Save Me Lyrics 16 years ago
Just the kind of music I love! Great beat, amazing lyrics, and sung by a beautiful voice. The meaning is very simple; when someone feels lost, depressed, and empty, just as they reach the edge, they hope and pray there will be somebody to come out of nowhere and erase all the pain. An idealistic view, but it's the last ray of light before sinking into total despair. Cliche? Maybe, but it seriously rocks.

Krypteria – Time To Bring The Pain Lyrics 16 years ago
Great song! Obviously about some kind of love revenge or something close to that. Sounds like the singer found out about the whole little affair and decided to play the role of karma.

Nemesea – Home Lyrics 16 years ago
Picture late week-nite, just got home from long day of work/school, take out the bottle of wine, sit down and just think, think for the next few hours about a failed love. That's what I get from this song. It's just as beautiful as it is sad.

Xandria – Salomé Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm surprised to be the first to comment, expected it to be somewhat more filled. Very melodic song with a amazing vocals/lyrics. However, the song is called "Salome"(with an accent above the e), and the lyrics here aren't all there so its not easy to interpret, but the appreciation's still there. My favorite on the album so far!

Lacuna Coil – The Ghost Woman And The Hunter Lyrics 17 years ago
Well...lets see. I have two interpretations for this song. There's the more obvious one, which you can deduct from just looking at the title. Two lovers, separated by the boundaries of life and death, the hunter's still looking for the deceased ghost woman, they're physically apart, but not spiritually.

My second one is more of the take I got on the song w/out the title in mind. It feels like a metaphorical description of someone who's lover broke up with them some time ago. Going about each day, the deserted person is dwelling on the fact that their former lover is simply moving on, never being a part of their sadness, tears, and broken life because, well...they've moved on. "Embrace so unreal" speaks of the yearning for that person's touch, and "calling on your sins, you're here in my dreams" is the singer thinking about what the person did(abandoned, ignored, moved on), making them believe they are alone physically, however knowing they're not alone in this world of pain. Anyway, that's what I make of this.

Lacuna Coil – Without A Reason Lyrics 17 years ago
A very beautiful song! To me, this song seems to be about a person who's in love with someone who's oblivious to the him/her. The lyrics make it clear that the singer's feelings for the other is significant, if not a bit desperate. They are growing towards that idol, but he/she's apparently cold, distant, or whatever(or maybe isn't even aware of the other). My favorite part, where they say "Feels like talking to a wall," is the line that gives away the song's meaning, like a slap to the face, waking the dreamer back to reality. In this case, they know there's no hope, hence the line stating, "Our destiny so cruel." Even the music gives a melodramatic, hollow and saddening emotion, one of Lacuna Coil's masterpieces.
